Travel to exotic locations like Chinese empires, Japanese gardens, ancient Egyptian ruins and castles from the middle ages to collect rewards and reveal more exciting challenges. Click on any link on the left to view details about that game style.
SOLITAIRE
This is the traditional tile matching game and forms the basis for many of the variations included in Legends of the Tiles. The basic rules are covered under Mahjongg Basics on previous page.
MEMORY
This is the childhood classic game of concentration played with mahjongg tiles. Click any two tiles to uncover
them and see if they match. If the don’t match, they will be hidden again after a brief delay. The goal is to
remember where tiles are so you can uncover them again at a later time.
DOUBLES
This variation plays the same as traditional solitaire. However, you are given on additional way to make
matches. In Doubles, you can remove any two matching tiles as long as they are directly next to each other
(vertically or horizontally), regardless of whether an edge is blocked by another tile. In the example below, the
two circle tiles could be matched.
WATERFALLS
This is a simple matching game where you click on any two or more matching tiles that are beside each other
(horizontally or vertically). When you click a valid tile, all of the matching tiles that are touching are removed
and the remaining tiles will fall into place. The more tiles you remove with each click the more points you will
score.
FLIP – IT
This solitaire variation gives you an added strategic advantage by letting you flip columns or rows of tiles that
are on the same level. This way you can free tiles that appear to be blocked. To flip a row or columns, just
right-click a tile to highlight the column (right-clicking again will highlight the row) and then click the flip
button. Game play then continues as in Solitaire.
NANJING
This variation is always played on a flat layout and lets you remove any two matching tiles that can be
connected by a straight line (horizontal, vertical or diagonal). The tiles don’t need to be next to each other and
can span the whole layout, including empty spaces. Once a match is removed, the remaining tiles collapse to
fill the empty spaces.
HIDE AND PEEK
This variation plays exactly like solitaire. However, you have the additional option to hide tiles that are not
available to be selected. This makes finding matches easier. Click the Peek button to toggle between hidden,
grayed out and visible tiles.
FOUR RIVERS
This game always uses a flat layout and features unique matching rules. Two matching tiles can be removed if
they can be connected by drawing an uninterrupted line between the two tiles with 2 turns or less. Adjacent
matching tiles can always be removed. See below for some examples.
GOLDEN DRAGON
This is the only solitaire variation where you don’t have to complete the whole layout. Just find and match the
two golden dragon tiles to finish the game at any time. If you pay attention in the beginning, you may be able
to catch a glimpse of where they are hiding.
COLLAPSE
Click any set of 3 or more adjacent matching tiles to remove them from the layout. Tiles are constantly being
added though, so time is of the essence. As the game progresses, the tiles come faster and in a wider variety,
making matches harder to come by. The game ends when any stack of tiles reached the top of the screen.
