California NORML regular-ly hears complaints from pa-tients using medical cannabis with a doctor’s recommenda-tion who are told by their pain doctors that they may not be prescribed opiate medication due to their use cannabis.
Oftentimes, patients are abruptly told that they must immediately stop using med-icines they have been taking successfully for years.
We feel this is discrimination against legitimate med-ical cannabis patients, and seek a legislative remedy. Recent studies have shown that using cannabis and opiates together can actually be beneficial to patients, by allowing them to use lower dosages of opiates with-out harmful side effects.
