YEHUDA ASSIA COLLECTION: A SELECTION
This collection, a selection of which is exhibited, is one of the most interesting, rooted collections of Israeli art in the country. The collection focuses mostly on figurative art – paintings by Mordecai Ardon, Abel Pann, Reuven Rubin, Moshe Mokady, Yosl Bergner, Liliane Klapisch and Avigdor Arikha. The works of Ardon and Abel Pann play a significant role in the collection, not only in quantity, but also due to their affinity to Bible stories. The significance of the emotional contextof the collection is the common denominator between the artists represented in the collection andthe collector Yehuda Assia himself, as well being the source of the collection’s uniqueness.Sam and Ayala Zacks Pavilion. 27 Shaul Hamelech Ave, Tel Aviv. The Israel Museum, JerusalemFamily TracesAt the heart of this exhibition stands the family portrait, charged with memories and longing. The exhibition was initially inspired by Anthony Goicolea’s Supper (2008). Presented alongside Goicolea's personal journey are multicultural works from the Museum's and other collections. A special loan from The Museum of Modern Art, New York is Frida Kahlo’s My Grandparents, My Parents, and I, an intimate, symbolic family tree, addressing the complex identity of an artist with native Mexican and German immigrant ancestry.

ALMAALMA, a theatrical journey about Alma Mahler’s life is an internationally successful and most unusual theater production that has reached cult status, it is an interactive play that includes a very special party. In paying tribute to Israel’s 60th Independence Day (celebrated in 2008), the Republic of Austria sends this unique theatrical journey as a gift to Israel, and the production is made with the collaboration of the Cameri Theatre of Tel-Aviv.ALMA is a polydrama, consisting of several interwoven threads of events taking place simultaneously in various spaces of the unique venue, the Underground Prisoners Museum Jerusalem. The audience can chose for themselves the storyline, the events, the path and the person that they want to follow and simply move from one space to the other, thus creating a theatrical mosaic of their own.A highlight of the performance is the interactive funeral of Gustav Mahler and the sumptuous buffet-dinner during the interval. The outstanding and unusual ambience make this “mourner’s meal” a truly memorable experience.

ERNESTO Discover “Little Italy” in the heart of Tel Aviv. Ernesto is a simple and unpretentious neighborhood family-run restaurant and combined with its lively atmosphere and delicious authentic Roman cuisine, makes for a genuine and truly enjoyable culinary experience.
In 1997 Uri Ernesto Marcheria arrived in Israel from Rome and literally brought with him a taste of the old country. A favorite haunt amongst locals of Italian descent and tourists, you can’t go wrong following these diners who know the real thing when they see and taste it.
In 2006 Ernesto received the honor of being recognized by the I Ristoranti Dell'Accademia Italiana della Cucina Guida, the Italian Academy of Cuisine.
The house recommendations includes for starters Fiori di Zucca Fritti; fried zucchini flowers filled with mozzarella cheese and for main meals enjoy Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe; with a Pecorino romano cheese and black pepper sauce or Coda Alla Vaccinara; ox tail with celery in a tomato sauce.
The excellent fare, the provincial décor, the homely ambience, the unforgettable and endearing restaurateur skills of the owner, not to mention the surprisingly inexpensive prices (Business lunch from 29 NIS), make Ernesto your “Primo” dining choice.
