WE SPOTTED

SOME PATTERNS

01 SOME TOOLS TURNED REALLY

EFFICIENT FOR WORKING WITH

START-UPS.

02 HOW MUCH PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT

THEIR REVENUE MODELS WHILE

STARTING OUT

03 THE PROBLEMS WITH

- DESIGN

- TECHNOLOGY

- BUSINESS

05 BUT WHAT’S QUALITY? 04 INVESTORS BROADLY ARE OF

TWO TYPES : THEY LET YOU

RUN THE SHOW / THEY RUN

THE SHOW

03 PEOPLE BELIEVE ALL RESEARCH

STILL TAKES PLACE AT LABS AND

GO OVER YEARS

06WE COMPARED OUR PROJECT

TIMELINES AND THERE ARE

SOME ASPECTS THAT CAN BE

MEASURED

08 WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR

MVP, WE ARE LOOKING

FOR JUST FEW MOMENTS MADE

01 )SOME TOOLS TURNED REALLY EFFICIENT FOR WORKING WITH START-UPS.

WE JUST CANT DO WITH STANDARD DELIVERABLES WHILE WE ATTEMPT TO PRODUCE INNOVATION. LIKE STAKEHOLDER INTERVIEWS IN A FOOD

PROJECT LITERALLY TOOK US BY SURPRISE WHEN WE DISCOVERED THAT TWO STAKEHOLDER NOT ONLY HAVE DIFFERENT UNDERSTANDING BUT

DIFFERENT MOTIVES FOR THE START-UP. WE ALSO REALIZED THE DIFFERENT STAKEHOLDERS COULD ALSO BE THE BIGGEST BRAND EVANGELISTS!

Page 6: Hello campers '15

02) HOW MUCH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT THEIR REVENUE MODELS.

INTERESTINGLY START-UPS WE WORKED WITH HAD NOT FROZEN OVER THEIR REVENUE MODELS BUT THEY KNEW THERE WERE OPPORTUNITIES.

KNOWING WHAT THE BUSINESS OF A BUSINESS IS CRUCIAL. BUT IT HAS BECOME ITERATIVE AS WELL.

KNEW NOTHING HAD SOME IDEAS;OPEN TO PIVOTS

HAD ACTIONABLE PLANS

Page 7: Hello campers '15

03) THE PROBLEM WITH DESIGN IS

DESIGNERS NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND HOW START-UPS WORK, START-UPS NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND DESIGN PROCESS AND DELIVERABLES.

THE DESIGNER WANTS

IT BUT ISNT ENABLED

TO TAKE IT

THE BUSINESS MAN

WANTS IT BUT DOESNT

UNDERSTAND IT...

Page 8: Hello campers '15

03) THE PROBLEM WITH TECHNOLOGY IS

THE PULLEY IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE FORMULA OR AN OBJECTIVE FACT BUT ABOUT DRAWING WATER FROM A WELL, DOING CONSTRUCTION

WORKS AND MORE! WITHOUT A PURPOSE, TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT LEAD ANYWHERE, LIKE ONCE WE WERE DISCUSSING WHAT ALL POSSIBLITIES

EXIST AROUND THE TECH THAT USER CAN DIAL AND SPEAK TO 5 PEOPLE TOGETHER FROM HIS PHONE DIRECTLY.

Page 9: Hello campers '15

03) THE PROBLEM WITH BUSINESS IS...?

WE ARE STILL FIGURING OUT BUT WE DON’T ENJOY MOST OF WHAT WE SEE AROUND. JUST LOOK AROUND FOR THE NUMBER OF START-UPS

GOING PUBLIC. OR WHICH ARE NOT COPIES? OR WHICH SOLVE YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM.

ARE PEOPLE ARE JUST SURFING WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT IS WATER?

Page 10: Hello campers '15

04) WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR AN MVP, WE ARE LOOKING FOR FEW MOMENTS MADE BETTER

THE DRIVING FORCES DECIDE THE FATE OF INNOVATION. IF THE DRIVING FORCE IS RELEASING AN APP IN THE MARKET, IT’LL FEEL THE SAME

TO YOUR USER; IF IT WAS A GENUINE ATTEMPT TO MAKE IT HAPPY, IT’LL FEEL SO. INNOVATING FOR BETTER EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE NEEDS

TOOLS THAT CAN REFLECT THE EMOTIONS RATHER THAN THE SCREENS!

Image source : The images were taken from Google. We modified and used them for the purpose of our product experience story.

Swipe up and down,Amazing playlists to be found!

No more mind reading required, each playlist tells what its about!

People take playlists quite literallywhile imaginally it could be a story

Its not justa list of songs.Feels like somebody put a life in it

Onceuponatime...

Onceuponatime...

He tapped the play button and it was love at first sound.

|| i

The song literally stood outand so Arjun went further in

This songis abouta wishlistthat...

A song is not a superposition of words on tune. Its much more than that, the musician’s effort and soul.

He knew he would be playing it again,so he marked the track as a favorite.

Nobodyexpressed itthis beautifully.

Loved the song he so muchhe went backstage to meet the creator!

To stay in touch with the artist,he tapped the favorite icon.

Arjun didn’t know this would happen...The app made an artist mix for Arjun, with artist most popular, least popularand personal favorites.

And when he get’s bored, just hit refresh and next mix is there.Oh and its available offline!

You areso COOL!

The first time Arjun played the mix,he got to hear a message by the very artist!

If we hadmade arteven thatwould......

Liked the app he so much, that it saved us advertising costs!

Inviting a friend was made so cool, that people invited rather than telling

Nithin is somuch intomusic, he will love this

Why not add music to the invite? And that too your favorite one!

Nice!!Pixels,Why don’tyou align!

meanwhile, in Nithin’s world... He was still trying to align Pixels when he got a notificationfrom Arjun. It was about some app.

Nithin was not always this serious about Pixels. But now they pay him, so he cries and tries.

Nithin is from Ranchi, went to delhi for studyand came to Bangalore with his first job in his hand.

He is 24, Male, Indian.

“So what do I feel about Music?” I play it all the time when I am working! Its cuts off the noise.Makes me shake my neck , is made by someone with

a good voice and I have 50 GB of it on my laptop. But how do i feel about it.. that’s an interesting question.

Wait I have pixels to attend to right now...

Hi Nithin!

Your friend just tried our app and he feels that you would like it too. Give it a shot. Try it out. If you want something better we would love to know!

Cheers!

So Nithin went to download the app. The app was really light andinstalled quickly. He opened the app and played out Arjun’s song.

|| i

Nithin explored the appwhile the music played.

The music playlists are beautifulI can share music with my friendskeep my music offline

Looks worth a try!

The drummingwas so cool!Let’s listen to some cool drumming!

|| i

And as he thought this,he looked at the screen, the song had the DRUMS taghe just tapped and a drumplaylist was there.

Ah, Nice!

So he ended up adding 10of his friends because thatwas the limit too.

Can you tell me 10 peoplewho share music with youand with who you do it too?

05) WE COMPARED OUR TIMELINES AND LOOKED LIKE SOMETHINGS ARE MEASURABLE IN PRODUCT DESIGN PHASE

KEEPING MODERATE COMPLEXITY IN MIND; IF SOMEONE QUOTES YOU LESS; JUST ASK HOW MUCH HE/SHE UNDERSTANDS ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT.

IF THEY QUOTE MORE, EITHER THEY ARE SCARED OF YOU OR THEY ARE PLANNING TO SCREW YOU. THE GOOD PART IS RESEARCH HAS BECOME

AFFORDABLE TO START-UPS WHICH MEANS YOUR COMPETITORS ARE DOING IT. CONCEPTULIZATION ALSO HAS A DEADLINE.

06) PEOPLE STILL BELIEVE THAT RESEARCH TAKES PLACE IN LABS AND TAKES YEARS!

OF ALL THE PROJECTS WE HAVE WORKED ON, WE HAVE ALWAYS HEARD EVERYONE SAY WE KNOW OUR USERS. AT THE END OF RESEARCH PHASE,

WE ALSO HEARD ALL OF THEM SAY, WE NEEDED THIS. REASERCH MORE THAN THE TOOLS IS ABOUT THE MINDSET.

05) THERE ARE BROADLY TWO TYPS OF INVESTORS : THEY LET YOU RUN THE SHOW / THEY RUN THE SHOW

YOU GUYS MUST HAVE HEARD THAT INVESTORS INVEST IN IDEAS PROVEN OUTSIDE. WE FEEL ITS BECAUSE THEY KNOW HOW THESE BUSINESSES

ARE RUN, THE METRICS ARE THERE! YOU PROPOSE SOMETHING NEW, SHOW ONE THING ABOUT IT WHICH IS MORE EXCITING THAN A BITE OF

THEIR FAVOURITE FOOD.

05) BUT WHAT’S QUALITY?

PERSONALLY IF YOU ASK ME, I’LL SUGGEST YOU TO READ ZEN AND THE ART OF MOTORCYCLY MAINTAINENCE. FOR START-UPS THERE IS A

SIMPLER WAY. ANSWER THIS, HOW DO YOU DEFINE THE QUALITY OF THIS STARTUP:

ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS.

Q?

what are the ten

biggest problems

of your user?

is the one you are solving

really worthwhile?

how would people talk

about your service to

each other?

will they refer it as a

person, as an adjective?
