StatementMy work focuses on the importance ofmark making and how this establishesrelationships and bridges between ourunderstanding of the environment andself. Flickering between two-dimensional and three-dimensionalexperiences my current work addressesthe conceptual spirit of water. Living inMichigan surrounded by fresh water Icontinually observe and am fascinatedby its constantly changing form while ittrickles, seeps, and flows. I discoverpatterns when it freezes. I amspellbound when it floats in the air.Water is capable of great power anddestruction. It is beautiful as it filters, reflects, refracts, and interacts with light. It represents a precise process, anexchange of energy that has its ownnatural timing and organization.

Artistic goals: I believe it is important to encourage cultural connections throughoutour society establishing value and ensuring a reasonable participation in thephilanthropic process for the arts and humanities. We must move toward anunderstanding of the value of art in our communities and family life. During this project,I am interested in embracing and highlighting our connections with the water aroundand near us through identifying its beauty, fragility, and its ethereal aspects. Throughmy work as an artist, I want to be part of the wave of collective consciousnessimplementing awareness. Building up our inventory of experiences that support thevalue of creativity and cultural heritage to the lives of people and their communities isessential. All life absolutely depends on and receives pleasure from water in some form.

Why important to artist?

Water is a precious resource that we needto protect. Being a responsible steward ofour resources is key. Environmentalawareness and protecting our naturalresources are crucial if we are to survive. As a culture we are too busy to notice thedelicacy of this complete system of life.Through my work as an artist, I view thisproject as a means to highlight these subtlespaces that filter and support water. It iscrucial that we attend to the beauty, tranquility, and serenity in order to returnto the center of balance. When we takecare of our water we directly impactourselves.
