Glorification of Jesus in Old Testament

In New Testament Jesus’ Glorification is Witnessed by

Our Glorification of Him

• Have him seated on the throne of our

heart.

The former glory found in Moses and the Law in no way outshines the glory of the

Lord! Vs. 1-5• Earthly priests stood in the sanctuary administering

sacrifices – the greater is seated receiving the sacrifices.

• The earthly tabernacle was never meant to be eternal – the heavenly stands forever.

• Earthly sacrifices were made by law – the heavenly by oath.

• The earthly tabernacle was only a copy and shadows of the actual – the throne of God never changes.

• The earthly covenant, written and engraved in stone was fading – the covenant of blood reigns throughout eternity.

VS 6-9 The Christ Offers A More Excellent Ministry

• The better covenant would not have been needed if the first covenant had been faultless (8:7).

As Paul explains in Galatians, the purpose of the Law was not to impart spiritual life, but rather to reveal our sin so that we would be driven to faith in Christ as our only remedy (Gal. 3:19-24).

• Third, those who turn back to the Old Covenant and strive to please God by law-keeping reject the New Covenant and the salvation by grace which God has provided through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Gal. 5:4).

• Fourth, the New Covenant has greater glory than the Old, in that it has the power to transform lives.
