Hebrews 12:1-3 (NKJV) 1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every

What Is Our Attitude Towards The Scripture?

Many want their Bible like their religion - “cafeteria style.”

Far too many want to pick and choose what they want in the Bible and leave the rest.

Many people claim to accept Jesus, but reject the Bible –

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and

said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by

every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' "

Ephesians 6:10-17 (NKJV) 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in

the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and

blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the

heavenly places.

Enables Us To Overcome Temptation

His Attitude Towards Scripture

✦ One Cannot Follow God’s Word And Sin While Doing So! - 1 John 3:9,10

✦ A seed determines the nature of what is produced

✦ If the word of God “remains” in us, our daily lives, attitudes, actions, & words will manifest the nature and likeness of God (Luke 8:11; Hab. 1:13).

1 John 3:9 (NKJV) 9 Whoever has been

born of God does not sin, for His seed

remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

✦ Jesus referred to the Scriptures as the final authority, the infallible standard against which there is no appeal.✴ The question of Jesus’ disciples

breaking the Sabbath – “Have you not read . . .” - Mat 12:1-7

✴ The question on how a Jew could gain eternal life – “What is written in the Law?” - Luke 10:25-28

Cannot Be BrokenHis Attitude Towards

Scripture✴ The authority of the Scripture is

final; it cannot be set aside – John 10:31-38; Mat 5:18; Luke 16:17

✴ Not changed by time or culture - The words of Christ are just as authoritative today as they were nearly 2,000 years ago! - Mat 24:35

✴ We will be judged by His words! - John 12:48

Cannot Be BrokenHis Attitude Towards

Scripture✦ The Jews who lived and died

under the Law of Moses would be judged according to that Law –

✦ The one who did the will of the Father would enter the kingdom of heaven – all who practiced lawlessness would be destroyed – Mt 7:21-23; Lk 11:28

✦ We will be judged by the words of Christ – John 12:48-50; Luke 6:46; 2 Cor. 5:10

ScriptureJohn 12:48-50 (NKJV)

48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have

spoken will judge him in the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on My own

authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should

say and what I should speak. 50 And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just

as the Father has told Me, so I speak."

Our Attitude Towards The Bible?

✦ The Bible is a book no one can ignore.

✦ It claims to be the Word of God, a revelation from the Almighty Creator, the Key to the mysteries of the Universe, the Owner’s Manual to guide our lives.

✦ By following it – we please God and will be rewarded with eternal life with Him,

✦ By rejecting it we condemn ourselves to eternal condemnation.

✦ Are You Looking To Jesus & Following His teaching?

✦ If So – Keep Looking To Him – That You Do Not Become Weary!

✦ If Not – Start Following Him Today By Being Baptized Into Him or be restored!!

Matthew 22:23-33 (NKJV) 23 The same day the

Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him

and asked Him, 24 saying: "Teacher, Moses said that if a man dies, having no children,

his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for

his brother.

Page 31: Hebrews 12:1-3 (NKJV)

Matthew 22:23-33 (NKJV) 25 Now there were with us

seven brothers. The first died after he had married, and

having no offspring, left his wife to his brother. 26 Likewise

the second also, and the third, even to the seventh. 27 Last of all the woman died

also.

Page 32: Hebrews 12:1-3 (NKJV)

Matthew 22:23-33 (NKJV) 28 Therefore, in the

resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her." 29 Jesus

answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not

knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Page 33: Hebrews 12:1-3 (NKJV)

Matthew 22:23-33 (NKJV) 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels

of God in heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by

God, saying,

Page 34: Hebrews 12:1-3 (NKJV)

Matthew 22:23-33 (NKJV) 32 'I am the God of Abraham,

the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the

living." 33 And when the multitudes

heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.
