THE HISTORY AND COMPONENT OF HEBREW BIBLE
The word Hebrew comes from the word ( 'ibri), meaning “to go over” OR “to go cross”, hence “ Hebrew” would be one who crossed over or one who went from place to place, a nomad, a wanderer. In the Bible the word Hebrew becomes and ethnic term used interchangeably with “Israelite”. On the other hand, the English word "Bible" is from the Greek phrase ta biblia,"the books," an expression Hellenistic Jews used to describe their sacred books several centuries before the time of Jesus. Christians adopted the phrase "Old Testament" to refer to these sacred books they shared with Jews. Since Jews used the word “Tanahk” whereas Christians use “Old Testament”, modern Scholar comes with the term “Hebrew Bible” to avoid confessional terms of Old Testament and Tanahk. The text of the Hebrew Bible is more than 2 millenniums ago
