Claes & Svante Magnusson,
Third Generation
Swedish lumberjacks working near the town of Hestra, Sweden circa 1910.
Hestra’s first winter work gloves. Designed and built by Hestra’s founder Martin
Magnusson. Made of cowhide, goatskin, and wool they lasted for many years
and withstood both the hard work and cold severe weather, circa 1936.
WE WORK WITH OUR HANDS
In the spring of 1936 our grandfather Martin Magnusson began to manufacture
gloves for Sweden’s lumber industry to protect the lumberjacks whose hands
were often exposed to the harsh Swedish winter conditions. Magnusson found
that cowhide and goatskin leathers provided the best durability, and wool on
the backhand provided the greatest warmth and insulation. Today our technical
abilities in glove design allow us to take Magnusson’s original vision and
expand it to better understand the needs of our customers and continue to
build gloves that will protect their hands, fit comfortably, and facilitate the
work that needs to be done. Hestra is a family-owned and operated business
founded and located in Hestra, Sweden. Our grandfather’s vision is in every
glove we’ve made for the past 75 years, today, and for years to come.
HAND PROTECTION SINCE 1936At Hestra JOB we build gloves and gloves alone.
With this single focus we provide unmatched
quality, fit, and hand protection. Hestra has
five glove categories to fit most any JOB: Low
Risk, Multi-Use, Weather, Heat, and Garden &
Landscape protection. Every one of our protec-
tive work gloves meets or exceeds the European
Union EN-Standards and the ASTM standards
for protective hand wear. Our commitment to
hand protection provides the user with an added
level of comfort to help get the JOB done.
All Hestra JOB Category 2 medium risk gloves meet or exceed this standard
All Hestra JOB welding and heat protective gloves meet or exceed this standard
All Hestra Job Cold weather Gore-Tex and Czone gloves meet or exceed this standard

TRANSLATING THE NUMBERS
EN 407:2004 CE- Standards for glove protection against thermal risks
This standard defines the protection level against heat or fire in the following 6
forms. Open flame, heat contact, resistance to heat, penetrating heat, drops of
molten metal, and splashes of molten metal. The higher the num ber the better
the protection.
EN 388:2003: Standard for glove protection against mechanical risk
This standard defines a series of specific tests for protective gloves against
the mechanical risk of abrasion, cuts, tearing, and puncture resistance. The
higher the number the better the protection.
EN 511:2006: Standards for glove protection against cold
This standard defines the protection against cold in three tests,
penetrating cold, resistance to cold, and water penetration. The
higher the number the better the protection.
EN 420:2003: General requirements and test methods for protective glovesThis standard states that ALL protective gloves must…· Be designed and manufactured to protect against the job risk the glove is intended for
· Be easy to put on and take off
· Have the seams and threads held to the same safety standards as the rest of the glove
· Be manufactured with material that cannot be harmful to the user
· Have a PH level between 3.5 and 9.5
· Be washable without affecting the protective material as long as the proper washing
instructions are followed
· Be designed to give as much dexterity as possible within its protective safety level
· Have standardized sizing according to EN standards
All Hestra JOB gloves meet or exceed these standards

Hestra JOB gloves tested for specific EN standards will be indicated with the corresponding EN symbol below them. The numbers under the symbol indicate test results the glove
received in numeric terms. The higher the number the better the protection performance. The diagrams below indicate the highest number a glove can receive in that test . The
first number listed references the first test, followed by the second, third, fourth, etc... If an “X” appears in the list, it means that test is not applicable to the glove.
