Page 3: HEAT DESIGN COVER SCROLLING - Heat Design - Your answer ...heatdesign.ie/assets/Heat-Design-Stoves-and... · Therefore burning wood as a fuel is considered to be carbon neutral. For

Burning wood in your Heat Design stove produces less net carbon emissions

per unit of energy than any other domestic fuel. Fossil fuels such as coal, oil

and gas evolve from natural materials that absorbed carbon dioxide from the

atmosphere millions of years ago. When burnt, the carbon dioxide is released,

leading to increased concentrations within the atmosphere.

The difference between wood and fossil fuels is one of time scale. Burning

wood also releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. However, the same

amount of carbon di-oxide is absorbed by the tree, whilst growing over the previous few months or years,

creating a balance between carbon emitted and absorbed. Therefore burning wood as a fuel is considered to

be carbon neutral.

For the best effect, dry seasoned wood should be used. Wet wood may form creosote

which will deposit in your chimney, resulting in maintenance of the chimney lining.

Dry wood will provide more heat, and cause fewer problems than green wood.

Choosing the right stove

Minimum HeatOutput Calculator:

To calculate the amount of BTU’s (British Thermal Units)

or kW needed to heat your room simply follow these

three easy steps:

STEP 1: Take the measurements of your room in feet or metres

Multiply: Length of room x Width of room x Height of room

STEP 2: Multiply this figure by a factor of 6 for BTU’s or 0.0606 for kW

STEP 3: This is the mimimum heat output required to heat this room

– now you can choose the right stove for your heat requirements.

Therefore 21,600 BTU’s is the minimum heat output required to heat this room

* The above calculation should be used only as a guide – the heat output per room may vary depending on the

room insulation, position of the room, the number of doors and windows and a number of other factors.

Length x Width x Height Cubic Measurement x Conversion Factor Heat Requirement

Air Management System

The TR stove range features the Heat Design patented Scirrocco

Air Management System. This innovative system allows total

control of the air supply resulting in perfect burning conditions

while also delivering clean glass which allows an uninterrupted

view of the fire.

Its simple! Here’s how it works:Firstly, you control the delivery of air into the bottom of the stove which

allows easy control of the flame and rate at which the fire burns. You can

also control the amount of air allowed into the stove through the Scirrocco

Air Managment system at the top of the stove which flows down the front

of the glass, keeping it clean and allowing the flame to always be on view.

The air then rises back into the combustion box which allows for longer

burning time of fuel.

Finally, it allows control of preheated air which is introduced through the

system at the top of the stove. This air passes through a heat exchange

chamber into the combustion box where it creates a longer and more

economical burn.

The Scirrocco Air Management System provides you with the ability to

control all air flows which allows for a cleaner, more efficient stove and

complete control of the flame. From a deep glow to whirling flames in

seconds – all from air delivered through this efficient system.

SUPER-ISOLFireplace Building Boards

The exceptional heat resistance makes SUPER-ISOL able to

withstand continuous heat cycles, and the low thermal conductivity

provides maximum insulation, making it the ideal product when

building a fireplace.

Total Fire Protection SUPER-ISOL is a non-combustible material, providing total fire

protection for residential and commercial buildings.

Heat Control SUPER-ISOL allows you to take control of the heat surrounding the fireplace – with it’s

excellent R-value and low thermal conductivity, heat loss can be reduced. SUPER-ISOL

uses the heat by redistributing it to other areas of the house, saving money.

Quick And Easy Installation SUPER-ISOL can be easily cut and handled using common wood working tools, and the

fact that it is 50% lighter than other non-combustible boards makes it easy to handle

and shape. It can be used as both light weight construction and as wall-covering

because of its strength, and so combines multiple building products into one.

The pictures below show an example of the simplicity of building a fireplace

with SUPER-ISOL.

SUPER-ISOL is CE marked according to EN 14306 (2009) and classified to A2-s1, d0 non-combustible.
