MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO

Join GSHS and Memphis River Parks Partnership to be a part of the riverfront’s newest park! The new park will feature native meadow paintings, a civic lawn, a dining and events pavilion, a playful treehouse, and giant ‘nests.’ The ‘nests’ are spaces in the park for visitors to gather, play and relax and we want you to help us design and build them!

Memphis River Parks Partnership will evaluate the designs from groups across the city and select up to three of them to be built in the new park. If selected, you’ll be invited to the community build day on November 3.

The new park will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, November 9 where all builders will be recognized for their contribution to the park. The designers and builders of each nest will have the chance to leave their mark on the structure and know that they have helped to construct the future of the riverfront.

earN tHe Ceo patCH The CEO Patch is earned by completing any act that raises recognition for the mission of Girl Scouts. Recognition can be earned at school, church, on social networking sites, in the media, or any other avenue in which the act is made known to the public.

What is it like to be the CEO? Here are some of the things you can do:

• Have your mayor sign a Girl Scout proclamation• Submit an article to your local newspaper about a

community service project• Create a Girl Scout poster to hang at your local

library• Organize a Girl Scout Sunday/ Sabbath event at your

church • Talk to community leaders about what you’re

learning in Girl Scouts and how they can support your troop.

To receive the CEO Patch girls must submit their activities, pictures and detailed information online.

Every girl earning the CEO Patch will be invited to attend a “CEO Meet and Greet” reception! At the reception she’ll have a Meet & Greet with the CEO, participate in Girl Scouts focus groups, and meet other CEO Patch recipients from around the council.

And, one lucky Girl Scout will be selected to be “CEO for a Day” where she’ll get to have a one-on-one meeting with the CEO and enjoy a day at the council.

For ideas and more information email Amanda Merritt, [email protected].

This patch program teaches Girl Scouts how to better understand food allergies and to know the importance of how to help an individual suffering from an allergic reaction.

By learning about food allergies, you can help allergic individuals avoid risks, and know what to do if a reaction should occur.

Once you complete this patch program you should feel confident in the following:

• Being able to identify common allergens.

• Preparing allergy-friendly foods with substitutes.

• Knowing what to do if someone suffers from a reaction.

Download the Be a PAL Food Allergy Awareness patch program.

Purchase your Be A PAL patch ($2) in your local Trefoil Trunk council shop location.

tHe gIrL sCout uNIForMFor over a century, Girl Scouts have proudly worn distinctive uniforms that symbolize the high ideals for which the organiza-tion stands.

Wearing the Girl Scout uniform is a tradition shared with millions of Girl Scouts—and the huge network of Girl Scout alumnae who came before them—helping to remind girls they belong to a big, powerful sisterhood.

The following prices include the Girl Scout uniform, which in-cludes a vest, sash, or tunic, the American flag, troop numbers, council id set, tab, World Trefoil pin, and Girl Scout member-ship pin. (Tax not included.)

Girl Scout Daisy (K-1): Tunic $40.50 / Vest $42.50 Girl Scout Brownie (2-3): Sash $40.50 / Vest $42.50Girl Scout Junior (4-5): Sash $32.50 / Vest $45Girl Scout Cadette (6-8): Sash $33.50 / Vest $50.50Girl Scout Senior (9-10): Sash $33.50 / Vest $50.50Girl Scout Ambassador (11-12): Sash $33.50 / Vest $50.50

As you can see, your girl wears the same uniform for at least two years, and can carry over some uniform components like her World Trefoil pin, and Girl Scout memberhip pin as she progresses through the Girl Scout program.

You can purchase your uniform in-store at one of our three locations during regular business hours, or online at www.girlscoutshs.org/shop.
