The city gives away FREE compost mulch at 400 Commissioners St, every Saturday, 7am - 12.30pm. If there are any stalwart volunteers who want to lend a hand with transporting valuable compost please contact Sally Evans. Sally will be on hand to spread the compost when it arrives. a better place by being part of the 100 interventions happening across the city. join the fun at Beach.
Cooking with Soul Organizing an intervention from 9 - noon in BUC kitchen. Sign-up on our Facebook event page or phone church office. We are making summer dips, spring vegetable soup, rhubarb dessert. Food will be shared with folk in our city who are hungry.
An Invitation to the Tuesday Night Study Group on
Jesus and the Gospels
In an attempt to continue the conversation begun in our recent Jesus Seminar on the Road session, our fall study program will be consist of 18 sessions which will look at the Gospels as literary compositions and how they are related to each other, and communicate through their literary structure, plot, character development, themes and symbolism. The lectures will look at the context for the emergence of the Gospels, the four canonical Gospels, the apocryphal gospels, and finally the illusive and compelling figure of Jesus. The DVD lectures will be given by Luke Timothy Johnson through the Great Courses program. Each evening will include two 30 minute lectures followed by discussion. The sessions will take place Tuesdays at the Beach United Church 7:00pm-9:00pm from September 23 to February 3. For further information you can contact Dick Allan at [email protected]

On June 7, 2014, create an intervention that will make Toronto a better place. Presented by: Evergreen CityWorks & United Way Toronto What if hundreds of people united, each putting in place the changes they wish to see in their city, all on the same day? On June 7, for the first time-ever, Toronto will host 100 in 1 Day. This citizen-driven festival will unite people across the city to make Toronto a better place by creating acts of urban change. These acts, or interventions, have the potential to raise awareness of urban and social issues, inspire ideas, and motivate leaders to consider new approaches to old problems.
BUC teams with 100 in 1 Day Toronto ~ Cooking with Soul Come cook a healthy, fun meal which you'll get to eat and help the community at the same time ! We'll make creamy white kidney bean hummus, savoury sweet potato hummus and tangy eggplant dip. We'll use locally baked bread to dip. To compliment the dips we'll make a healthy in-season vegetable soup. And for dessert rhubarb squares! Food will be shared with folk in our city who are hungry. 2014 Beach Garden Society Garden Tour
Rain or shine, the Beach Garden Society Garden Tour will take place Sunday June 22, 2014 between 2 and 5 pm. There will be sculpture installations courtesy of Marilyn Walsh, refreshments— many baked by volunteer members, and one garden will feature music.
