The ‘Star of the Month’ forSeptember is Cathy Matthews
This month, the Star of the Month was awarded to Cathy Matthews. Cathy was nominated by her co-worker in the Lab, Traci Gress: “Cathy goes above and beyond her duties to make everything in the lab run as smoothly as possible. She has duties too numerous to mention in this small amount of space, but follows through which each of them with 110 percent.”
“She strives to listen to each and every concern of all lab employees and implement solutions to fix problems to the best of her ability and resources”, Gress continues. “We feel trustworthy of her and have positive reactions to anything we bring to her attention, good or bad. Thanks Cathy!”

Last week was Emergency Room Nurses Week! Congratulations to all the nursing staff in ER: we greatly appreciate all that you do! The ER staff would like to thank Guy Spangler, ER Director for providing the nurses with lunch on Wednesday and Survival Flight for providing lunch on Thursday. The ER Staff greatly appreciates their thoughts and kindness!
The JCH Ambulance Association Soup and Chili dinner will be held Friday, October 21 from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Jersey Community Hospital Ambulance Garage. Join us!
An employee ice cream social will be held Thursday, October 27 from 2-3 p.m. in the JCH Cafeteria. The social will be sponsored by Jerseyville Banking Center.

Practicing hand hygiene is a simple yet effective way to prevent infections. Cleaning your hands can prevent the spread of germs, including those that are resistant to antibiotics and are becoming difficult, if not impossible, to treat. On average, healthcare providers clean their hands less than half of the times they should. On any given day, about one in 25 hospital patients has at least one healthcare-associated infection.
