involvement in the health Care sector has been a consistent part of our work since
our formation in 1970. from doctors’ surgeries through to administrative buildings
and accommodation on hospital sites, we have successfully implemented a variety
of developments. our involvement with care in the community from retirement
schemes to care homes completes the range of skills and experience we can offer.
Working closely with our clients we aim to add value to any scheme and ensure
timescales, budgets and brief are met.

Dickens heath Village Medical Centre - Solihull
stephen George & partners co-ordinated and masterplanned this dynamic new
village incorporating its own health care facilities, within the district centre.
Both the medical centre and the dental surgery are located adjacent to the main
market square to provide a central facility at the heart of this new village. the
medical centre occupies the ground floor of this neo-classical two-storey building,
with 205 sqm (2,212 sqft) of space providing primary health care to the whole
community. the whole centre was accomplished within a budget of £2.2m.
Grange park, northampton, northamptonshire
the design brief called for a new community encompassing residential and
commercial development, including retail, recreation, community and education
facilities. the site, adjacent to Junction 15 of the m1, occupies 40 ha (99 acres) of
land for mixed housing and 30 ha (74 acres) for employment.
situated in the District Centre which also includes a supermarket, public house,
café/restaurant, crèche, library, bowling green, and a recycling centre, the medical
Centre was built to serve the newly developed area. it comprises a five Gp practice
serving 6,000 patients with a dental surgery and attached privately run pharmacy.
this two and half storey medical centre provides a reception and play area, with
rooms for treatment, consultation and private interview. there are seminar facilities
and meeting areas for medical professionals with other staff facilities including a
common room and kitchen area. specialist technical rooms provide an x-ray facility
and dental surgery.

Beacon Centre for the Blind Wolverhampton, West Midlands
stephen George & partners has designed the new multi-million pound ‘village’ for
the visually impaired. it will offer choice to over 3,000 local visually impaired
people by providing residential care, day care and community services for those
living in Wolverhampton, Dudley, sandwell and staffordshire.
the £18m scheme will occupy a site of approximately 1.4 ha (3.5 acres) and will
provide 71 apartments which will be available for shared ownership or market
rent. When complete, the development will provide the Beacon Centre with new
charity headquarters incorporating:
• a state-of-the-art activity centre including craft and social rooms
• a fully equipped recreation hall and gym
• it, training and employment suites
• talking newspaper studio and charity, retail and catering outlets
Both the new Beacon Centre and the accommodation will be ‘highly sustainable’
with a design which adopts all the latest best practice techniques and will achieve
a rating of ‘very Good’ in both Breeam and ecohome ratings - the industry
standard for measuring sustainability in new buildings.
Kings Mill hospital & nurses accommodation Mansfield, nottinghamshire
Kings Mill hospital stephen George & partners was commissioned by the client on a Design and Build
basis, to provide a building that would act as an nhs Direct telephone helpline,
an emergency doctors’ surgery, and a direct contact point with the social services
department.
the concept of the building followed all the usual facilities for a doctors’ surgery;
a waiting room, reception, four consulting rooms, a treatment room and a nurses’
room. specialist rooms were also provided for the nhs Direct service, and one for
the social services Department emergency Duty room with an ensuite bedroom for
staff’s use. three ensuite doctors’ bedrooms were provided together with a staff
rest room, a beverage room, meeting room and computer room.
nurses’ accommodation sherwood forest hospitals nhs trust, required the construction of residential
accommodation for medical staff and students, to provide 144 bedroom units.
this was undertaken by William Davis ltd, in association with leicester housing
association.
the proposed development takes the form of two blocks of accommodation
designed to meet the required numbers and achieve the standards set down in JCD
Guidance on new standards for living and Working Conditions for hospital Doctor
in Training. It is arranged in flats comprising four bedrooms with ensuite shower
and toilet, and a communal kitchen/dining room. each bedroom is acoustically
protected to minimise disturbance caused by differing shift work patterns.
a safe and secure environment is provided, particularly when staff are leaving and
returning on foot at any time of the day or night. a gated site entrance allows
occupants to get access to public transport on the a38, sutton road.

east northamptonshire outpatient Centre for Kettering General hospital
having undertaken the design and planning work, stephen George & partners
has now taken the new outpatient centre for Kettering General hospital in
irthlingborough to site.
providing outpatient facilities including x-ray and ultrasound appointments in
addition to blood testing, this new facility will serve the local community by
offering outpatient care to up to 40,000 visits.
the outpatient centre will play a central part in a new 13 acre business park
providing a modern purpose built environment for the NHS benefiting from the
location and impeccable transport links.

stephen George & partners was involved in the shell design and construction and
then the subsequent fit out of the headquarters building for the East Midlands
Ambulance Services. Utilising a range of modern and practical finishes, the
internal works provided a business environment that knitted with the clients strict
requirements.
the headquarters building was part of an overall masterplan provided and overseen
by stephen George & partners, for the new nottingham Business park and was
completed in early 2008.

stephen George & partners has been working together with their clients
henry Davidson Developments ltd to bring forward the mixed-use village
centre at lawley in telford.
this scheme lies at the heart of a major urban expansion which provides a new
community with some 3,000 new homes and new schools.
The mixed-use centre includes a supermarket, further retail, offices, public house,
restaurants, nursery and a care home.
sitting on a site of approximately one acre, an extra care development of some
60 units is also part of the proposal. this element has been brought forward with
sanctuary housing working together with the hCa and telford and Wrekin Council.
the proposal is for a mixed-use scheme with the extra care common parts and
retail accommodation at the ground floor with the residential accommodation
arranged above.

stephen George & partners was approached by a private client to provide a
feasibility assessment for a 0.4 ha (1.1 acre) site in northampton. the scheme
comprises a 50 room Care Home facility over two floors with associated car parking
and servicing. one of the constraints of the site is to retain an existing rear access
to a nursing facility incorporating a modified access configuration.

the works will also encompass hard standing areas for parking and access,
