SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTSApplicants must be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as a provisional psychologist. Applicants must submit certified copies or original documents indicating qualifications and academic records, a brief curriculum vitae, and a written personal statement outlining their professional goals. Two references are also required from academic and/or professional referees. Applicants are evaluated on academic merit, relevant work experience, and referee reports. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview for the final part of the selection process. Successful applicants will be required to undergo National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.

NOTESGraduates from the Master of Psychology (Professional) are not eligible to apply for endorsement. There is currently no bridging pathway to either the MPsych (Counselling) or the MPsych (Clinical).

PATHWAYS TO BECOMING A PSYCHOLOGISTSix years of training is required to achieve general registration as a psychologist in Australia. Curtin University offers three pathways to registration:

STEP 1 = Undertake a 4-year undergraduate psychology degree# or equivalent.

STEP 2 = Choose one of the following 3 pathways to registration as a psychologist:

2-years supervised practice*.4+2 = 6 years

1-year postgraduate psychology degree# and

1-year supervised practice*4+1+1 = 6 years
