Criminal Background Check, Drug Screening, and Physical Examination Requirements (completed after acceptance)
Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening
Students selected for admission to a Health Science program are subject to a criminal background check and drug screening prior to the start of the program. Participation and placement may be denied at a clinical agency based on the background or drug screening results and/or the clinical agency's pre-employment screening policy.
Prior to admission, each student is required to successfully complete a drug screening. Please be advised that certain over-the-counter supplements and alternative medicinal products, including but not limited to CBD, THC, Cannabinoid, and Cannabinoid Oil may trigger a positive result, and consequently, the student will be ineligible for the Health Science program. A second drug tested sample is not allowed per Broward College Admissions Procedure A6Hx2-5.01. The links are provided below.
Policy: http://www.broward.edu/legal/policies/Section%20Template/6Hx2-5.01.pdf Procedure: http://www.broward.edu/legal/policies/Section%20Template/A6Hx2-5.01.pdf
An unsatisfactory Level II FBI background check and/or drug screen may delay the admission process and lead to possible ineligibility for admission into a Health Science program.
Information regarding where to complete the background checks and drug screenings will be provided upon acceptance into a Health Science Program.
Health Examination
A Medical History and Physical Health Form must be completed at the time specified by the program. Final acceptance or continuation in a program will be contingent upon the results of the physical examination submitted prior to attending the first clinical rotation and then repeated in the second year of the program. A student may not enroll in a clinical course unless the Health Form has been submitted and then reviewed by the program for completion of all listed requirements
