digital first healthcare at scale: live in London 5th November 2017Babylon: mental health and stress
Mental health and physical health are fundamentally
linked. People living with a serious mental illness are at
higher risk of experiencing a wide range of chronic
physical conditions.
Conversely, people living with chronic physical health
conditions experience depression and anxiety at twice
the rate of the general population.
Diabetes rates are significantly elevated among people
with mental illnesses
People with diabetes have nearly twice the rate of
diagnosed mental illnesses as those without diabetes.
People with serious mental illnesses often experience
high blood pressure and elevated levels of stress
hormones and adrenaline which increase the heart rate.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Do we have a choice about adopting digital first healthcare at
scale?
For patients it will deliver a personalised, proactive and connected
health and wellbeing environment enabling more supported self-
management and a single point of access to the wider health
system
For health systems it will provide a single point of digital delivery &
co-ordination to the patient for use by multiple providers
Through mass data and predictive analytics risk profiling and real
time, active case management of every individual patient becomes
a reality
The economics of healthcare will be radically changed
