Because we all have a BIG

problem

Global: WHO report: shortage of 7.2 million healthcare workers in

2013 rising to 12.9 million by 2035

USA: shortage of between 40,800 and 104,900 physicians by 2030

The big picture

Creating a digital model of every patient

Populating the model with the patient’s existing medical record

Adding data from wearables (IOT)

Conducting regular digital health assessments

Creating a personalised predictive model for future health and wellbeing

Assessing risk and providing targets and methods for reduction

Managing episodes of ill health, recovery and recuperation

Delivering human clinical intervention by voice or video in app, plus in person

Encouraging & supporting active patient participation in managing their own health and wellbeing

digital first healthcare at scale: live in London 5th November 2017Babylon: mental health and stress

Mental health and physical health are fundamentally

linked. People living with a serious mental illness are at

higher risk of experiencing a wide range of chronic

physical conditions.

Conversely, people living with chronic physical health

conditions experience depression and anxiety at twice

the rate of the general population.

Diabetes rates are significantly elevated among people

with mental illnesses

People with diabetes have nearly twice the rate of

diagnosed mental illnesses as those without diabetes.

People with serious mental illnesses often experience

high blood pressure and elevated levels of stress

hormones and adrenaline which increase the heart rate.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Do we have a choice about adopting digital first healthcare at

scale?

For patients it will deliver a personalised, proactive and connected

health and wellbeing environment enabling more supported self-

management and a single point of access to the wider health

system

For health systems it will provide a single point of digital delivery &

co-ordination to the patient for use by multiple providers

Through mass data and predictive analytics risk profiling and real

time, active case management of every individual patient becomes

a reality

The economics of healthcare will be radically changed
