Mission
Haven for Hope offers a place of hope and new
beginnings! While we continue to work on
solving the root causes of homelessness, we
provide and coordinate an efficient system of
care for men, women and children experiencing
homelessness.
Our Approach
In 2006, business and civic leader Bill Greehey
and the San Antonio City Council sought solu-
tions to address homelessness in Bexar County.
After nationwide research on models and best
practices, Haven for Hope opened in 2010.
Through a recovery framework and comprehen-
sive on-site social services, a person is guided
from homelessness to housing.
Haven for Hope offers:
The Courtyard is a safe outdoor sleeping
area for Guests needing temporary shelter
and basic services.
The Transformational Campus provides
long-term living quarters and services to help
Members address the root causes of their
homelessness.
A Major Campus, Major Partners
Haven for Hope is a 22-acre campus just west of
downtown San Antonio. We provide case manage-
ment, job training, residential facilities, education and
coordination of partners’ services. To address the
root causes of homelessness, we partner with 91
organizations; 31 are on our campus. Together,
they offer more than 150 different social services.
Major partners include:
The Center for Health Care Services provides
housing, substance abuse and mental health ser-
vices. They operate The Courtyard—a safe sleep-
ing area for adults; plus the In-House Wellness
Program, In-House Recovery Program and Resto-
ration Center.
The San Antonio Food Bank provides meals
and an opportunity for Members to achieve a certi-
fication in Culinary Arts.
St. Vincent de Paul Society provides meals for
Courtyard Guests.
I Care Vision Center provides vision services
to Members, Guests and the public.
San Antonio Christian Dental Clinic provides
dental services to Members, Guests and the
public.
YMCA of Greater San Antonio provides early
childhood education and afterschool care to
Members and the public.
Centro-Med provides medical services to
Members and the public.
These are just a few of our 31 on-site partners.
An additional 60 partners operate off-site and pro-
vide a wide range of services to our Members and
Guests.
Haven for Hope’s
campus has an
overall capacity of
1,500 individuals—
850 on the Trans-
formational Cam-
pus and 650 at The
Courtyard.
