Praise him with the tumbrel and dance

To praise God in the dance requires the surrender of your ent ire being to the Lord. When you praise Him in the dance, the lubricat ion of the joy of His presence moves throughout every part of your being to break up, loosen, and free, areas of your life.

If your church background is one of quiet ceremony and dignified reverence, you may find it difficult to associate such act ions with your relat ionship to God. You are accustomed to thinking of God in the sett ing of solemn organ music, stained glass windows, subdued light ing, pomp and ceremony, and a certain order of service. And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.

Judah, thou [art he] whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand [shall be] in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee. Judah [is] a l ion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a l ion, and as an old l ion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be].

For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him [came] the chief ruler; but the birthright [was] Joseph's:)

FIRST TIME VISITORS

n the last edit ion I began to discuss the benefits of praise. I said there are several benefits we derive from praising the LORD. The first one I I

mentioned in the last edit ion, which invariably is the most crucial of all the benefits is the fact that praise grants us easy access into God's presence. There is nowhere that is comparable to God's presence. It is the best place one can ever be in t ime and eternity. That is why the Psalmist said it is the only place you can experience the fullness of joy Psalm 16:11

No wonder the Psalmist said his number one desire is to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of his life, to behold the beauty of the LORD Psalm 27:4

We cannot fully comprehend the full benefits of being in God's presence. The benefits are many. I want to encourage you to seek to be in God's presence always; and this can only be possible when we praise the LORD in sincerity. In the scriptures, there are several instances of when the glory of the LORD came down when people praised the LORD. A typical instance is when Solomon was dedicating the temple he built; on that occasion they offered quality praise unto the LORD and the glory of the LORD came down 2 Chronicles 5:13-14

The LORD inhabits the praises of His people. The blessing that accrues to you while in God's presence is more than you can imagine. If you are born again your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. If you take t ime to offer praise to the LORD, His glory will fill your body, His temple.

“11. Thou wilt shew me the path of l ife: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

“4. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my l ife, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.”

“13. It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they l ifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; 14. So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.”

The glory of the LORD will bring such transformation to you that your life will not remain the same.

I am focusing on this first benefit because the value of it is enormous. When Apostle Peter experienced the presence and a glimpse of the glory of God in the mount of transfiguration this was what he said Matthew 17:4

You cannot enter God's presence and be in a hurry to leave. I pray that you will offer God real praise that will usher you into His presence. There was a t ime when Apostle Paul and Silas were shut up in prison for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ. While in prison they had every reason to murmur against God for their plight; instead they chose to pray and sing praises to the LORD that night. It was not a silent praise; it was audible because we are told that the prison officials heard them. The LORD honored them with His presence because they honored the LORD with their praise. The evidence of this was a serious earth quake that shook the foundat ion of the prison and all the security locks in the cell where the Apostles were detained broke; and the doors of the prison opened Acts 16:25-26

In this instance praise had a series of effects; first was the miraculous opening of the prison doors without human intervention. Secondly, was the salvation of the keeper of the prison and his entire household Acts 16:27-33

“4. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for El ias.”

“25. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.”

“….30. And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31. And they said, Bel ieve on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

33. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.”

“1. We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old. 2. How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst affl ict the people, and cast them out. 3. For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the l ight of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.”

“20. So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.”

You can imagine what would have happened if Apostle Paul and his team had decided to complain and rain curses on those who sent them to jail; the LORD would not have moved the way He did; they would have remained in jail for a long t ime. Also, the prison officials would not have been saved that night. There are so many benefits in praising the LORD. Another benefit of praise is the fact that praise is a weapon of warfare. When you praise the LORD when you are passing through trying t imes you move His hands to fight for you. Some of the battles we face are not what we can win by ourselves. We need help. Not human help; but divine help. No wonder the Psalmist said the children of Israel did not possess the land of Canaan by their own strength, it was the divine arm of the LORD that gave them the land Psalm 44:1-3

A t y p i c a l e x a m p l e o f t h e manifestat ion of this scripture was what the LORD did in the land of Jericho. The details of what happened is contained in Joshua chapter 6; but this is the summary of it all in Joshua 6:20

The sound of the trumpet and the shout unto the LORD did more damage to the walls of Jericho than a dynamo would have done. There are several other examples in the scriptures where battles were won through praise. Are you currently in a battle? I want to recommend that you try the weapon of praise. How can one go about it? By the grace of God I shall discuss this in the next edit ion if Jesus tarries. Until then continue to praise the LORD. ... To be continued ...

Jeremiah Chapter 33 verse 11.

I will take no bullock out of thy house, [nor] he goats out of thy folds. For every beast of the forest [is] mine, [and] the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field [are] mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world [is] mine, and the fulness thereof. Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? and pay thy vows unto the most High: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. …
