Reception Assembly
We were very proud of our
incredibly talented Reception
children who shared their
learning with pupils and
parents on Thursday 23rd
June. Not only did they speak
clearly and confidently but
they also demonstrated great
skills in singing, dancing and
art! Well done!
We are still short of
helpers to run stalls at the
Summer Fair on 1st July.
Please see Julie Hall or a
member of office staff to
sign up for a slot—we
cannot do it without you!
Well done to our fantastic St. Paul’s Choir, who
performed as part of a Young Voices project at The Rose Theatre . They performed 2 very accomplished pieces
rehearsed with Mrs Bint and Miss Mumford and then joined with many other
school in a joint performance. They were incredible and a
credit to the school.
We are also looking for more volunteers for our PTA
Committee and would be very grateful if you can help!
Healthy Living Day with Avril Mc Donald
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been an interesting couple of weeks at St. Paul’s and has felt incredibly busy! Year 5 have been taking their cycling
proficiency tests, practicing for their Production with Year 6 and were the first St. Paul’s pupils to experience a residential trip
to Hindleap Warren, which is a change from our previous visits to the Isle of Wight. We wanted to be able to offer the
children opportunities to try activities which they wouldn’t otherwise experience and to encourage them to challenge
themselves, take risks and work as a team—they certainly did that and had a wonderful time. We are already looking forward
to taking our current Year 4 children in October as we know they will absolutely love it!
Yesterday we held a mock referendum in school as we wanted to reinforce the importance of being an active participant in a
democratic vote. We were impressed with the listening skills and high-level conversations held by all children. Like the real
referendum, the vote was very close, but the majority of votes from the children were to remain as part of the EU.
We have had numerous trips and visitors in the last fortnight: Year 6 Leavers’ Service at Southwark Cathedral; Year 2
children performing at the Rose Theatre and being excellent ambassadors for our school (we were so proud when other
parents there commented on the excellent attitude and behaviour of our children); Keith and Barry from the Kingston
Beekeepers’ Association presented to the children; Avril McDonald visited KS1 to talk about her books as part of Healthy
Living Day and the Year 6 children led Gugafit sessions in the hall as we all learned about how to feed and exercise our
bodies to keep fit and healthy. We have more exciting activities planned to enrich and enliven the learning experiences of all
our children and so the next few weeks look to be even busier! Please see dates below. Mrs Kathryn Hemming
Class news
Red: Red class have loved learning about jungle and farm animals this week. They have created snakes with repeated patterns, investigated animal prints and used drama to re-enact ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’. Yellow: “I enjoyed when we learned about bees and tasted honey and learning about why people pray and different types of prayer.” Josh “I enjoyed learning about William Turner and then I painted a wavy picture of the sea and I also enjoyed making our passports.” Holly Blue: “We’ve been learning about shapes and if they’re 3D, if they’ve got vertices, what their names are and things like that. I’m feeling good because I can sort shapes now.” Max “In Literacy I liked writing commands for how to be healthy like: ‘Do exercise everyday!’” Ruby
Year 3: “In DT we’ve been creating Tudor dolls for the Y5/6 Production and we’ve been learning the bus-stop method of division in maths which I found quite hard at the beginning but then I found it really easy.” Bailee “We’ve also been designing paper models which we can move and writing Roald Dahl scripts in English.” Oliver
Year 4: “I’ve enjoyed maths because we’ve been learning lengths and measurements and I feel proud because I’ve really improved my work.” Aaron “I’ve enjoyed art because we’ve been looking at Banksy and creating our own art in his style. We started by cutting his pictures in half and completing the missing side then we researched facts about him.” Nell Year 5: We had the most incredible time on our residential at Hindleap Warren!! We can’t wait to tell you all about it in our class assembly (Please see some of the pictures below). Year 6: “I’ve really enjoyed learning the production songs and practising the production lines— it’s going to be unbelievably amazing!” Tianna “I’ve enjoyed taking part and winning the Tri-Golf Tournament and feel very confident about the London Youth Games because we did very well in practise today.” JJ
Year 5 challenged
themselves, overcame
fears and worked as
a team on their
residential at
Hindleap Warren.
