Jamir, Department of Botany Brief Bio-data of Prof. N.S. Jamir Dr. N.S. Jamir is working as professor in the Department of Botany, Nagaland University, Lumami. He is former head, Department of Botany; former Dean, School of Sciences and former Pro- Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, SASRD, Medziphema. He did his graduate, postgraduate and Ph.D degree (1983) from North-East Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya. Prof. Jamir is a recipient of Dr. J.W. Harshberger Medal in 2008 for his long and distinguished service to the society of “ETHNOBOTANY” and also recipient of Dr. T.M. Hyniewta Medal award in 2016 for his long contribution in exploring and understanding the Biodiversity and Ethnobotany of North-East India. Brief Bio-data of Prof. N.S. Jamir

Dr. N.S. Jamir is working as professor in the Department of

Botany, Nagaland University, Lumami. He is former head,

Department of Botany; former Dean, School of Sciences and

former Pro- Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, SASRD,

Medziphema. He did his graduate, postgraduate and Ph.D degree (1983) from North-East

Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya. Prof. Jamir is a recipient of Dr. J.W. Harshberger

Medal in 2008 for his long and distinguished service to the society of

“ETHNOBOTANY” and also recipient of Dr. T.M. Hyniewta Medal award in 2016 for

his long contribution in exploring and understanding the Biodiversity and

Ethnobotany of North-East India. Under his supervision 10 (Ten) Scholars awarded

Ph.D. degree while another 6 (Six) are working under his supervision. He has published

over 60 research papers in different National and International Journals. He also

published Six New Species of plants from Nagaland. Moreover, he has completed two

major research projects and currently four research projects/programmes are in progress.

Prof. Jamir is the Chairman or member in various Committees/ Boards like Executive

Council, Academic Council, School of Sciences, BPGS, BUGS in the universities and

by Bishen Singh Mahendra Pal Singh, 32-A, Connaught Place, Dehra

Dun, India (1988). The book is the first consolidated botanical account

and is the result of botanical exploration and study of Flora by me during

1978-1982). This book will be of immense use to all Teachers, Students,

Foresters, Conservationists and others interested in pteridophytic flora of

not only Nagaland but outside as well.
