STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 27 / REFLEXIÓN DE LA CORRESPONSABILIDAD PARA LA SEMANA DEL 27 DE MARZOThe Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us that “Easter is not simply one feast among others, but the ‘Feast of feasts,’ the ‘Solemnity of solemni-ties,’ just as the Eucharist is the ‘Sacrament of sacraments.’ The mystery of the Resurrection, in which Christ crushed death, permeates with its powerful energy our old time, until all is subjected to Him.” It is difficult for us to fully comprehend the importance of this day and its meaning for us, its fulfillment of hope for us. We consider this to be the most important day on our Church calendar. If we have properly approached the Lenten period, this day comes at the end of a period of prayer and fasting and almsgiving. We should have been prepared to spiritually die with Christ, and to rise as He did on this day to the promise of new life both in this world and the next.

Christ has saved us, and that alone is reason for our joyous celebration. By receiving the Eucharist on this day, we make a visible sign of our faith and our participation in the Kingdom of God.

Some are here today who may only come to church once a year, but this is the day to come to be sure. We welcome you with the love of Christ, and as good stewards, we invite you to become a more intimate part of our faith community, so that you, too, can realize that “God is good — all the time.” For more reflections and information on Stewardship please visit http://www.thecatholicsteward.com/

El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica nos recuerda que “La Pascua no es simple-mente una fiesta entre otras: es la ‘Fiesta de las fiestas,’ la ‘Solemnidad de las solemnidades,’ asi como la Eucaristía es el ‘Sacramento de sacramentos.’ El misterio de la resurrección, en el que Cristo aplasto la muerte, penetra con su poderosa energía en nuestro viejo tiempo, hasta que todo se somete a él.” Es difícil para nosotros comprender plenamente la importancia de este día y su significado para nosotros, su cumplimiento de esperanza para nosotros . Consideramos que este es el día más importante en nuestro calendario de la Iglesia. Si hemos abordado adecuadamente el período de Cuaresma, el día de hoy se produce al final de un período de oración, ayuno y limosna. Deberíamos haber estado preparado para morir espiritualmente con Cristo, y ser elevados como lo hizo Él en este día a la promesa de una nueva vida en este mundo y el siguiente.

Cristo nos ha salvado, y tan solo ese es el motivo de nuestra celebración alegre. Al recibir la Eucaristía en este día, hacemos un signo visible de nuestra fe y de nuestra participación en el Reino de Dios.

We are finally here for Easter Sunday! This is the day that changed the world. We might look at other events in history and try to compare them to Jesus being resurrected from the dead, but the resurrection has been affecting us for the past 2,000 years. There have been some pretty remarkable things over the years that have obviously helped us and moved us forward as a people: fire, electricity, the light bulb, manned flight, the Beatles, just to name a few of the millions of inventions and events that have taken place here on earth.Yet the Resurrection is the ultimate expression of God’s love for us. Through Jesus rising from the dead the doors that were closed through the disobedience of Adam & Eve are now mercifully opened again by the obedience of His Son, Jesus. We now are given the opportunity to live for eternity with our Father in heaven. This pretty much has affected every person who has ever lived and will live, forever, including each one of us.We are thankful today for all our loving Father has given to us and are re-energized to go forth and spread His love and mercy to all we meet. Have a Happy and Glorious Easter!

Twenty-three units of lifesaving blood were collected for Mission Hospital. Each unit is one donation and can help save up to three lives. The need for blood is constant and your efforts help ensure a safe and stable blood supply for people with a serious medi-cal need. You Be The Chemist (YBTC) Competition ContestantsOur seventh and eighth grade students were tested on their chemistry knowledge in order to qualify to compete alongside students from other schools in Orange County. OLF students were subjected to challenging questions in this qualification round, and eighth graders Tatum Baasch and Grace Brummell rose to the top. SPIRITUAL ACT OF MERCY #3: ADMONISHING THE SINNERDo not judge, but be supportive in helping others find their way and correct their mistakes.  Together we can learn to walk more closely with Christ. 

◆ In humility we must strive to create a culture that does not accept sin, while realizing that we all fall at times

◆ Don’t judge, but guide others towards the path of salvation (see Mt 7:1-2)

◆ When you correct someone, don’t be arrogant. We are all in need of God’s loving correction.

◆ We should journey together to a deeper understanding of our shared faith 

◆ “Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye” (Mt 7:5)
