SAT expectations/standards

For the KS2 tests a scaled score of 100 will always represent the ‘expected standard’. A pupil’s scaled score will be based on their raw sore. The raw score is the total number of marks a pupil receives in a test. The pupil’s raw score will be translated into a scaled score using a conversion table. Working Significantly Below the National Standard: These children will not be entered for the tests. Working Towards and At the National Standard: The nationally expected standard of attainment for a pupil at the end of Year 6. Working at a Greater Depth: Above the nationally expected standard of attainment for a pupil at the end of Year 6.

How You Can Support Your Child At Home:

• Encourage your child positively, without putting too much pressure on him/her.

• Support with home learning – provide a quiet place for work, discuss targets.

• If you wish to use them, there are revision guides and websites to support your child’s learning.

• Read with your child, discussing the content and choice of words the author has made. Ask your child questions about their reading, encouraging them to identify words or phrases to back up their answers.

• Ensure your child has an enjoyable and relaxing weekend before SATs.
