ayward Baker offers the option of a shotcrete wall with an aesthetic face. Shotcrete capabilities relate to earth retention structures and structural rehabilitation. Earth

retention projects include soil nail and shotcrete walls, permanent shotcrete walls, and shotcrete-faced soldier pile and lagging walls, including zero lot line earth retention. Other capabilities include aesthetic sculpted shotcrete for architectural features included in landscaping.

HBI has designed and constructed earth retention projects for over 30 years. Their experience, combined with their skilled employees, ensures that the highest quality work will be performed. For a vari-ety of subsurface and access conditions, earth retention and sculpted shotcrete may be the answer for your project.

or the last 25 years, sculpted shotcrete has been utilized to create natural-looking geological features. After shotcrete is sprayed onto a surface (often a soil nail wall), it can be

sculpted, textured, and stained to maintain the look of the surrounding environment or for decorative purposes. Shotcrete is a proven, cost- effective, and time-saving alternative to cast-in-place concrete. Projects can range from small landscaping to large landslide and highway cuts. Our skilled shotcrete technicians and ACI-certified nozzlemen can create natural-looking rock surfaces as part of a permanent earth retention system.

Earth Retention Systems

Hayward Baker also provides a comprehensive range of design-build services for all earth retention systems. While soil nail walls are the most common type of sys-tem that utilizes sculpted shotcrete, shotcrete can be incorporated into any earth retention system to provide an aesthetic facade. Shotcrete can be applied over sol-dier piles and lagging, secant or tangent piles, or a sys-tem of anchor blocks stabilizing a slope.

Steps for sculpted shotcrete wall

1. Design and construct a permanent earth retention system.

2. Create a sculpted shotcrete test panel for approval by the owner or landscape architect.

3. Apply a second shotcrete facing.

4. Prior to reaching initial set, the shotcrete is carved by ex-perienced technicians to match the test panel.

5. Dye is applied to shotcrete facing to provide a permanent and natural-looking surface.

Shotcrete Finishes . . .TextureA variety of textures can be achieved during the finishing pro-cess. The shotcrete can be finished with a trowel to create a smooth surface (a), knife finished to provide a rough surface (b), or left as shot for a coarse finish (c).

SculptingSculpting shotcrete can result in many different looks, including faux rock (d), brick (e), and stone, to blend seamlessly into the environment.

StainsNo longer is shotcrete synonymous with gray concrete. Stains can be used to provide realistic color to a shotcrete wall, or to match surrounding features.
