DIRECTOR’S NOTE

Every person is different, and every person has a story. The same goes for people on the autism spectrum. There are some similarities and challenges which resulted in the AS diagnosis, but every person and story is different. The saying goes that “You know one person with autism, you know one per-son with autism,” and the same goes for everyone else in the population.

This is Christopher’s story. It is never stated directly that he has a diagnosis of any kind, but there are clues that he is likely on the autism spectrum. In spite of his challenges, he is able to navigate some tough situations and
.well, I won’t give away what happens. The story is near and dear to my heart, though, because I think of it as hopeful.

And lastly, a wish. The next time you see a person lash out or have a melt down or who is struggling, be kind. Think about how a person’s internal dif-ferences or experiences can affect the way they process the world.

Thank you to Payton, for giving The Curious Incident authenticity.

This one is especially for William, with much much love.

- Kathleen

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time 5

Tom Amacher (Reverend Peters and Others) is thrilled to be in his first Strollers produc-tion. Tom’s wife, Jackie, is thrilled because rehearsals keep Tom out of the house and allow her to watch Survivor without his snarky comments. Tom’s dog, Boots, misses having her evening belly rubs and wants the show to close so she gets the attention she deserves. Tom, Jackie, and Boots are concerned about a play which opens with a dead dog on stage.

Rainy Armstrong (Judy) could not be more thrilled to be making her Madison acting debut in this particular show and role. She studied Theatre Arts at Utah Valley University and Portland State University before moving cross-country to this marvelous gem of a city. Her favourite role to date is undoubtedly this one. Infinite thanks to Kathleen, the cast and crew, all the hard work and passion that made this production come alive, and Dave and Rowan for their love and support.

Erin S. Baal (Set Designer) has been part of the Madison theatre community since 1999. She currently serves on the Strollers Board of Directors. Some of her more recent de-signs included The Tempest (MTG), Big Fish (OSHP), Clybourne Park (Madison College), The Winter’s Tale (Strollers Theatre), The Father (Strollers Theatre), and The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe (Madison College). Erin would like to thank Kathleen for being just as excited as she is about any and all projects they have worked on together.

Benjamin Barlow (Producer) wears a lot of hats! Literally and figuratively 😊 He’s had a busy last 12 months having performed on stage with Children’s Theatre of Madison (CTM), the Platteville Summer Arts Festival, and Madison Opera, in addition to serving as Strollers Theatre’s Publicity Chair. The cast and crew have been awesome, so please enjoy all of the hard work they have put in.

Payton Cardella (Christopher) is excited to be in his first on stage performance with Strollers Theatre! Payton graduated from Oregon High School in 2018, making this his first stage performance out of high school. He has loved working with the cast and crew of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and would like to thank them, along with his friends and family for their continued support. Payton would also like to extend a special thanks to Kathleen Tissot, the director, for introducing him to the world of theatre. Payton hopes to continue pursuing theatre, and dreams to be able to one day work full time as a stage actor.

Spencer Christoffel (Sound Designer) is thrilled to be a part of Stroller’s production of The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time! He has recently become involved with the Madison live theater community, providing sound design and board operating. His other Bartell contributions include Stage Q’s Falsettos, Twilight of the Golds, Southern Baptist Sissies, Cabaret! and MTG’s Working. He would like to thank his friends, family, and his mother and father, for all of their continuous love and support.

Michelle Dayton (Props Designer) is so pleased to work with the talented and caring company of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. The help from Monica, Kathleen, Sadie, Rainy, John, and Mark has been very helpful for putting this show together. Michelle has most recently worked on Infamous Mothers and The Father with Strollers Theatre. Thank you to all who have supported Michelle and her family the last six months. Michelle dedicates this performance to her father, Michael Dayton.

Megan Dickel (Costume Designer) is thrilled to work with Strollers Theater for the first time! She graduated in 2017 from UW-Mad-ison. She currently works as Wardrobe Supervisor/Assistant Costume Designer with the Children’s Theater of Madison. Local costume design credits include Gruesome Playground Injuries (Madison Theatre Guild), Temps! The Musical, and No One Goes to Hell for the Food (Mercury Players Theatre). She’d like to thank her parents and boyfriend Joe for all their support. Enjoy the show!

Sarah Edlund (Mrs. Shears and Others) is delighted to share this wonderful show with you. She began acting at a young age and only recently returned to the stage as an adult with Prom (Broom Street), The Winter’s Tale (Strollers), and Of Dice and Men (Mercury Players). This production has been an exciting opportunity for Sarah to grow as an actor with other supportive artists who have helped create Christopher’s world. When not at the theater, Sarah is working on her PhD or pro-crastinating with the cats and a jigsaw puzzle. She also loves spending time with her family. Sarah wishes to thank her family, friends, and Finn for their unwavering love and support.

Katrina Harms (Original Music) is so excited to be working with Kathleen Tissot again, and to make her Strollers debut! She keeps busy on keyboard and accordion with the space cowboy band Sixgun 7 and her solo electronic outfit, Dank Widow. Love to Eric, Becca, and William.https://katrinaharms.bandcamp.com

Sarah Hassam (Stage Combat Advisor) is honored to be working on this amazing story! She has a BFA from NYU Tisch and recently appeared as Kayleen in Madison Theater Guild’s Gruesome Playground Injuries. Thanks to Kathy Tissot for bringing her on this project and to the talented, hard working cast and crew.

John Jajewski (Roger and Others) has been in several Strollers productions, most recent-ly Baltimore Waltz and is honored to be working again with the company. John thanks Colleen and Daniel for their patience and inspiration. Support Local Theatre!

Edric Johnson (Ed) is proud to be a member of this company. Favorite roles include: Clay in The Pain and the Itch (Strollers), Uncle Peck in How I Learned to Drive (MTG), Ben Weeks in The Normal Heart (Stage Q), The Guard: The One Who Dies in Someone’s Got-ta Do It (Forward), and Barbara Ellen Diggs in Crafty in Wrong for the Part (Krass). Now stand behind the yellow line and enjoy the detective adventure!

Judy Kimball (Mrs. Alexander and Others) is very happy to be part of this lovely story. Re-cent roles for Judy have included Marjorie in Marjorie Prime, Agnes in A Delicate Balance and Virginia in The Clean House.

Joshua K. Paffel (Policeman and Others) hav-ing recentlly appeared in Strollers production of The Father, is very honored to rejoin the company with this signicant show. His other appearances in recent years have included A Place in the Woods, Morticians In Love, and Typhoid Mary.

Teresa Sarkela (Lighting Designer) has se-cretly enjoyed Lighting Design in a past life. She was last seen behind a lighting board surrounded by gels and empty coffee cups at Canterbury Summer Theatre, where she was the Resident Lighting Designer and Master Electrician for their 2014 season. Most recent Lighting credits include organizing gobos for MST’s Henry IV pt. II, focusing several Color Source PAR fixtures for Strollers Theatre’s Infamous Mothers, and changing out the burnt out lamp above the Drury paint sink. Many thanks to Kath, Conor, and her slightly frightened, yet supportive Lighting Design mentors.

Megan Siebert (Punk Girl and Others) is ex-cited to be making her debut on the Madison stage with this production! Previous roles on Kansas stages include Veronica (God of Carnage), Constance (Goodnight Desdemo-na, Good Morning Juliet), and Andrina (The Little Mermaid). She recently helped music direct Leopold Elementary’s Aristocats and enjoys working there as a music teacher. She extends special thanks to her partner Andrew for single-parenting their furbabies Earl and Ginny on long rehearsal nights, friends and family who traveled to see the show, and the cast/crew for balancing deep conversations with lots of laughs.

Carrie Sweet (Siobhan) is thrilled to be a part of this incredibly talented and fun cast and crew. Previous Stollers Theatre credits in-clude: A Delicate Balance, Steel Magnolias, and Blithe Spirit. Much love to Mom, Dad, and DB who always remind her she can do anything.

Kathleen Tissot (Director) has been wanting to do this “project of the heart” since first reading the script in 2016. She previously directed Amadeus for Strollers. Live, love, be kind, and flourish. This one is for William, with love.

Sadie Yi (Stage Manager) is excited to know that you have joined Strollers Theatre for an evening of theatre. She thanks Chet and Die-sel for their unconditional love and support.
