Hayabusa K2-K7 ECU Reflashing and Engine data Interfaces

• To be used with ECUeditor: http://busaecu.redirectme.net• Two different type of interface cables

– Engine data only interface– Full programming and Engine data monitoring USB cable

• Based on FTDI TTL232R 5.0V cable which supports the special baud rate for gauge data. Can be bought from www.ftdichip.com or www.mouser.com.

• For full reflashing and engine data USB cable an additional 4 pole on-off-on switch is required – switch positions: engine data monitoring on - interface off - reflashing on

• You can either get the ECU harness connector pins from www.m-cal.com or alternatively reuse the Yoshbox harness connector pins 15,16,23,24,25 which become obsolete when reflashing the ecu

• If in doubt of your skills I sugest you to have a look at www.boostbysmith.com or www.bikeland.info and buy a ready made interface from there.

TTL-232R-5.0V USB

Engine data only interface for K2-K7 HayabusaRecommended for Hayabusa Innovate Plugin usersby PetriK, 2008

This interface is based on using USB to RS232TTL converter to monitor gauge datastream.

ECU harness connector gauge data wire is connected to orange and yellow wires of the USB connector. The black wire from USB connector is connected to black/white ECU harness wire.

GNDBlackWhite wire (Pin 54)

Full reflashing and engine data interface for K2-K7 HayabusaAn USB cable connected permanently to the bike for reflashingby PetriK, rev 1, 4.5.2008

This interface is based on using USB to RS232TTL converter using one ON-OFF-ON switch with 4 separate contacts.

The TxD,RxD, FWE and MD1 are connected to ECU harness connector to empty slots. The Gauge data and GND must be connected to wires that are already connected to ECU.

Engine data and reflashing cable:Build Step 1 parts needed

• 1 x USB cable

• 1 x 4 pole on-off-on switch

• 4 x harness wires or new connector pins installed at the end of wires that you can insert to the ECU harness connector.

The sample pictures here use new pins and same colour coding as the USB cable.

Engine data and reflashing cable: Build Step 2 connect USB connector and

harness wires to the switch• Using the instructions

in picture at right solder the USB cable wires in the center swich using the colour code chart at right.

• The ecu connectorwires are solderedon the outer poles as instructed the colour code chart at right.

• If possible use same colour codes for simplicity. If you are reusing the Yoshbox blue or other ecu wires, make your own colour coding chart.

Engine data and reflashing cable: Build Step 3 –connect wires to ECU

harness connector

While the harness in the bike• Open the ecu connector by

pushing white thicker tab to open the connector for inserting new harness pins

• Put the wires in respective positions as in picture right.

• Pull the white tab back in place• Solder the Engine data wire

(green) to parallel to your ecu wire 33.

• Connect black wire to your battery negative or in parrallel with ecu wire 26

• On the picture at right all the other ecu wires are missing for clarity

Engine data and reflashing cable: Build Step 4 – Finalize the assembly

• Make sure that none of the original ECU wires has come loose from the connector and double check your wiring against the colour coding.

• Re-insert the ecu connector to ecu• Position the switch to a suitable place and

leave it in middle position• Connect the black ground wire to the

battery negative

• You are now ready to set up the connection in ECUeditor software

Copyright and liability release• Hayabusa ECUeditor is a very versatile tuning software for both individual persons as for professional tuners.  Anyhow before starting to

use the software we want you to understand the risks involved in motorcycle tuning in general.• In a modern engine management control unit there is several hundreds of different parameters to be set, an experienced tuner knows

exactly what to change for a desired result. Even though many of the functions are easy to use, to ensure that the bike is properly tuned and operating as expected this software is recommended to be used with a dyno facility that is specialized into ECU tuning and has proper equipment including engine data monitoring cable to validate all the changes with proper testing instrument.

• With proper tuning it is possible to make the bike run smoother and faster with a noticeable drivability change. On the other hand modification of the fuel maps or other factory settings may cause the bike to violate local emissions laws and there for modified bikes should not be used on public roadways. Like with any remapping and re-flashing tool remapping and re-flashing can result in the damage or destruction of engine controls system, damage or destruction of engine, and sudden and/or unexpected loss of power or surge in power resulting in loss of control of a motorcycle causing serious injury or death.

• When using this software the user of ECUeditor agrees to use map sharing function, which sets the functionality available to the user based map sharing activity. To use map sharing and some of the other functions an active internet connection to is required. For ECUeditor to flash the maps correctly the flashing program must always be started from ECUeditor.
