(Oh, ye of little faith!) God was faithful and provided all our needs. Our church family in Indianapolis, Traders Point Christian Church, has been great. They encourage us with prayers, calls, notes, and finances. They also committed to one-third of our monthly sustaining support. Silver Grove Christian Church here in Kentucky provides housing for our family free of charge. Others also support us in many ways. Thank you for your support. It is great to be able to reach out together in ministry with such strong family support. It hasn't all been easy, we've sometimes been tired and discouraged. But it's also the most stimulating time in our lives! We've met new people, gone to new places, and done things we didn't know we could do. We have found some new individual strengths (and weaknesses); our family has pulled together. But most importantly is our deepening dependence on God and His sweet fellowship.

    April 1991

As I look back over the past two years of our lives, one thing stands outabove everjdihing else, God is faithfuLl It has been exciting, but it hasn'tbeen easy.

With God's guidance, Dan left a career that he really enjoyed, then wentback to school full-time (at 35!). We've had concerns about both financialmatters and extended family members. Dan had a kidney stone removed(ouch!). We moved first to Cincinnati then a few miles away to SilverGrove, Kentucky. Also, after 2 1/2 years of home schooling, the kids wentback to public school, and I (Chris) lost my identity.

Through it all God has been there helping us along, allowing our faith togrow, confirming His call to us for full-time cross-cultural missionwork . . . even though we haven't seen it that way at the time. Just onesmall example: we found out that we were going to get to pay Federaltaxes, instead of receiving money back, then we found out that ourinsurance didn't pay 100% on ALL of Dan's hospital bill. With tremblingknees we sat the kids down and asked them to pray about this with us.We wanted to pray about this as a family so that together we could see inwhat "exciting way" God would answer. (Oh, ye of little faith!) God wasfaithful and provided all our needs.

Our church family in Indianapolis, Traders Point Christian Church, hasbeen great. They encourage us with prayers, calls, notes, and finances. They also committed to one-third of our monthly sustaining support.Silver Grove Christian Church here in Kentucky provides housing for ourfamily free of charge. Others also support us in many ways. Thank you foryour support. It is great to be able to reach out together in ministry withsuch strong family support.

It hasn't all been easy, we've sometimes been tired and discouraged. Butit's also the most stimulating time in our lives! We've met new people, gone to new places, and done things we didn't know we could do. We havefound some new individual strengths (and weaknesses); our family haspulled together. But most importantly is our deepening dependence onGod and His sweet fellowship.

  • Now we start support raising full-time. We will be going to new churches, calling and sendingletters to churches and individuals as we seek partners in our ministry. We know that God willbe faithfulf but we also know that this can be a stretching time. Please pray with us during thesenext nine months as God continues to use us to minister here and continues to prepare us for Hiswork in Mexico City.

    Please be prajdng for:

The team already ministering in Mexico City. Our foremost goal as we go into support raising to be to serve and minister. Faithfiil prayer partners. The two-thirds of our monthly support and our full one-time expenses still needed to be raised. Dan as he finishes school in May. Continued adjustment for the kids in school. Us to fix our eyes on Jesus and not grow weary.

    "r1 bring you

    good news ofa

    great joy which

    shall be for all

    the people; for

    today in the city

    ofDavid there

    has been born for

    you a Savior,

    who is Christ the

    Lord."

    Luke 2:10-11

It is with great joy that wegreet you at this special time ofyear as we celebrate the birthof our Savior. We wish yourfamily a very blessedChristmas and a happy NewYear.

God has blessed us richly overthis past year. It has notalways been in the mannerthat we asked or thought, butwe continue to leam patienceand leam to trust in Him.

have partners who havecommitted to almost two-thirdsofour sustaining monthlysupport and are also nearingthe halfway mark for one-timesupport. And we have 91% ofthe 150 committed prayerpartners who we are seeking.

This is definitely news to thankGod for. There are additionalchurches who will be letting usknow soon. We continue toleam about waiting on the

    Lord's timing.

Since our lastnewsletter we havecontinued to travelmany mdes. TheLord has been verygood in giving usopportunities toshare the needs ofthe people in MexicoCity. But, assometimes happenswhen you travelmany miles, we hadan accident. Our car

was the only oneinvolved, but it was totaled. Wewent off a rain-slick Kentuckycountry comer. The Lord tookgood care of us, and no one washurt.

After settling with theinsurance company, it was as if

Mindy, David, afid Katie with Grandma and someof thecousins.

During this holiday season weanticipated beginning ourtravels out of the UnitedStates. Our departure for thefield is now planned forsometime in early April 1992.

There is very positive news inconnection with this: We now

  • The team of missionaries wewill be joining as theyminister in Mexico City.

Us to continue presenting afresh message as we visitchurches.

Safe travels and a positivetime for the kids.

The remaining ipartners we needbefore leaving in April.

Us to fix our eyes onJesus and not growweary.

we sold our car early and nolonger needed to be concernedabout selling it before we go.My mom and dad loaned us avehicle for the interim. TheLord continues to bless.

November 8-10 we took part inthe Missions Conference at ourhome church in Indianapolis,Traders Point ChristianChurch. My ordination and ourfamily's commissioning tofull-time foreign missions workwas incorporated into theSunday morning service. Thiswas a very challenging andencouraging time for us all.

We want to thank everyone fortheir great support during thistime. Whether it be by prayerpartnership, financialpartnership, or words ofencouragement, we thank eachone of you for the part you areplaying.

We are anxious and excitedabout getting to the field, justas each of you are anxious tosee us on our way. Pleasecontinue to pray with us.

    Please be praying for:

"Let us fix our eyes onJesus, the author andperfecter ofour faith, who for the joy set beforehim endured the cross, scorning its shame, andsat down at the right ^hand ofthe throne of J}God. Consider Him whoendured such oppositionfrom sinful men, so that youwill not grow weary and loseheart." Hehrevfs 12:2-3
