Situated in a quiet residential area of Stockwell, Havelock
Court is on a local bus route and has shops within walking
distance. The home provides nursing care for younger
individuals who have chronic ill health, mental disorders
or dementia. As you’d expect from Bupa, our standards
of care are second to none, and we employ highly trained
registered nurses and care assistants who provide 24-hour
professional support.
At Bupa, we appreciate that every resident is different,
so each person living with us has their own personal plan
that’s unique to them. This covers not only their care
needs, but also their personal preferences and tastes. We
also ask residents and their relatives to complete a ‘Map of
Life’ so we can really get to know each resident, and meet
their emotional and social – as well as physical – needs.
We also offer our staff plenty of specialist training,
including our award-winning ‘Personal Best’ customer
service programme. Bupa Care Services is one of the
largest organisations to have Investor in People status,
reflecting this commitment to training and development.
Welcome to Havelock CourtWhen you’re looking for a care home, either for yourself or a loved one, it’s important that you feel confident with your decision. This means choosing somewhere that offers the higheststandards of care, comfort and support, with friendly and experienced staff, who really get toknow the resident and provide care that’s individual to them.
A warm, homely environmentWhether they’re staying with us long-term or just for a
short period, we want every resident to feel very much
at home. We welcome visitors at any time, and we take
care to create comfortable, homely surroundings. We
believe in striking a balance between providing care and
support when it’s needed, and helping the resident to
maintain their independence – and we encourage each
resident to lead as full and active a life as possible. Our
warm, friendly atmosphere means that our residents can
continue their daily lives with privacy and dignity, in a
safe, caring environment.
Our homeA modern, purpose-built home, Havelock Court has been
carefully designed to create a pleasant, well equipped home
for younger people with nursing and specialist care needs.
The centre has two comfortable, well furnished lounges
and two dining areas which provide a meeting place for
residents to relax and entertain guests. There’s also a bright
and airy conservatory, a dedicated activities room, and a
quiet reminiscence room which leads on to the terrace.
2087 Havelock Court 4pp A4.indd 2 30/11/09 09:30:38
Our activities take place here, and they are also a place to
socialise, watch television or simply spend some quiet time.
We know how important it is to keep in touch with friends
and family, so our door is always open to guests.
The home also has a small ornate garden with pretty plants
and flowers, as well as a patio area with a sheltered gazebo
and seating. There’s a sensory garden that the dementia
residents particularly enjoy, and a herb garden where
rosemary, sage, and applemint are grown for use in the
chef’s daily menu.
Our 60 single bedrooms are attractively decorated to a
high standard and all have en-suite facilities. Each room has
a telephone and aerial point, thermostatic ceiling heating,
smoke detectors and a 24-hour nurse call system. To
make their rooms feel as much like home as possible we
encourage residents to bring in their own belongings, such
as pictures and ornaments.
Fresh and varied meals Meals are an important part of the day at Havelock
Court, and our experienced chef creates a wide range of
balanced, nutritious dishes, prepared daily using only the
freshest produce.
Residents can choose to eat in our dining rooms, or
in their bedrooms if they prefer. All our menus are
nutritionally checked - our chef caters for all tastes and
diets and we will discuss our residents’ preferences and
any special requirements they may have.
We also serve tea and coffee in the morning and drinks in
the evening.
Stimulating daily activitiesEveryday activities are extremely important for encouraging
healthy bodies and minds. They help to bolster a resident’s
strength and energy, improve their appetite and humour,
and offer an opportunity for them to interact with staff
and other residents. As well as providing this physical and
mental stimulation, activities can also help give structure
to a resident’s day – and offer them something to look
forward to. This is why we like to look at daily tasks, such as
flower arranging or helping to tidy up, as activities rather
than chores. We also appreciate how important it is to offer
variety. So our activity co-ordinator ensures there’s always
something enjoyable and stimulating to do for residents of
all abilities – from arts and crafts to reminiscence therapy.
Residents are encouraged and aided in pursuing their own
hobbies, and entertainers regularly visit the home. Activities
don’t just take place in the home, we organise visits to
London attractions such as the London Eye and the Tate
Modern, and we often go on shopping trips.
Different types of careAt Havelock Court, we treat every resident as an individual.
For this reason, we offer several types of stay depending
on the level of support required, from long-term care for
those who need daily nursing, to respite, convalescent,
rehabilitation, dementia or residential care. Our nurses
and carers are specialists in caring for young physically
disabled individuals and young adults with learning
disabilities and mental illnesses.
Bupa’s commitmentAt Bupa, we believe in the highest standards of care and
comfort, provided in a way that is individual to every
resident. We aim to achieve this by employing dedicated,
well-trained staff and providing comfortable and homely
surroundings. Bupa is a health and care company that does
not have any shareholders. As a result, it can reinvest all of
its profits into the business and focus on its customers.
