Every nation and every tribe, God loves each and every one. The work of missions is all about the love of God getting to the unreached and the untold. Until His love reaches every person on the planet, our mission is not finished, our task is not done.

The Bible says we will see people in Heaven from every tribe, every people and every tongue worshipping around the throne. Unreached people groups must be touched by the love of God. They have a right to hear and receive, to respond to the Father loving them so much that He sent His only Son to die for them.

Our focus is therefore set; we are compelled to reach the unreached, to finish the unfinished task and to carry God’s love to the ends of the earth. Only then can we say with Jesus: “Our task is fulfilled and our mission is complete”.

There seems to be a school of thought out there that the work of the modern day missionary is irrelevant and obsolete. That the local church is able to effectively do the work of missions by remote connection and by implementing the vision that God has given them into a country and culture God has placed on their heart.

As a result the support for the missionary has been in decline, people have been counselled against obeying God’s call on their lives, and as a result nations and tribes go without hearing the name of Jesus.

Statistics tell us that 2.74 billion people (1/3 of the earth’s population) are still unreached. The work of missions and that of the missionary is still not complete. In this new millennium the work of the missionary is needed more than ever before. We are seeing countries finally receiving satellite television and in turn their traditional cultures are destroyed, children (girls and boys) turning to prostitution just to buy the latest fashion, or own that latest mobile phone. Other religions are now involved in their version of missions more than ever before, actively expanding their influence in the world while we sit back and hope that the hit and run of our local church will have an eternal impact.

We have found that wherever there is an effective work seeing communities reached and transformed with the love and message of the Gospel, it is only because there are individuals who have given their lives to ensure that it happens. All of our effective projects and disaster relief is facilitated through individuals just like this. Churches are being planted through individuals just like this. Communities are being transformed through individuals just like this.

My questions to you are these: “Have you heard the call to Go?”; “Are you willing to make the sacrifice and give your life for the call?” If so, then what are you waiting for? The adventure and the call of God to take the Gospel into a lost world is waiting for you!

Gap TeamA Gap Teamer is someone between the ages of 17-24 that is taking a “Gap” year off after graduating from School or University. ACC International is able to place someone planning to take their Gap year for two weeks up to the entire Gap Year.

In 2009, Riannah served as a Gap Team Member through ACC World Missions in Chiang Mai, Thailand for 6 months. Her experiences were incredible! She encourages everyone, at any age to go. Short term trips give people the opportunity to experience the world we live in, to see & taste another culture, meet different people groups & to experience God’s love, in that whilst we’re all so different, humanity is just the same. A Gap experience opens your eyes to what God is doing in other parts of the world & gives you the opportunity to grow in yourself & to develop a servant’s heart. In Thailand, Riannah was involved in Schools Ministry (teaching English), community development (visiting people & helping to meet their needs within the community of Hang Dong), helping run a kids/youth club, & helping to train a Thai team in the art of coffee-making. “I loved my experience so much & connected so well with the Thai team. I’m now back in Hang Dong serving for another year on this mission field. This year I’m also helping with the introduction of the Shine Program in Thailand, which I’m so excited about! There are so many hurt & broken women in this nation & I believe the Shine Program is going to be a beautiful avenue for women to learn about their value & how precious they really are; also teaching them skills to move forward in life! Praise God for the opportunity to serve Him in Thailand!

LifehouseTeamA Life House Team member is someone that wants to give a year to serve the Jesus Life House Church, planted by Ps. Rod Plummer in Tokyo, Japan. First started under the “Japan Tsunami” program, the “Japan Team” has now expanded from Tokyo, to Osaka & Hong Kong. Ps. Rod has a passion to plant 20 churches in 20 key cities throughout the nations by 2020.Young Adults are helping to build significant new churches in Asia.

Starting in 2002 in Tokyo, we now have Jesus Lifehouse churches in Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama and Hong Kong. This represents over 1,200 people in 8 years - many won into the Kingdom of God, and discipled through Aussie team members.

Noboru is an example. He was met by a member of the Aussie team in about 2004. He was a uni student and brought to church. On his second visit to church he became a Christian. He said he had gone to a Christian kindergarten as a small boy, but didn’t remember the story of Jesus. And then he just kept growing and growing, discipled in cell group. Then when the Aussie team member returned home, he began to lead the cell group on his own. Now he has many cell groups under his care.

In 2008, after a time working as a school counsellor at a uni in Tokyo, he came on board as a pastor in the church. He now oversees all uni outreaches and cell groups, and has a vision to plant a cell group in every one of Tokyo’s 120 unis. So far we have about 6, with students coming to church from 16 unis.

Yes, it’s a new wave of effective church planting, and young adults giving time in their gap year or extended holidays are making a huge difference. Why not consider becoming one of them!!! Oh yeah ...and next year there are more options. We are also starting in Sapporo (Japan’s snow Mecca) and Bali (Indonesia).

Hirioshi is the top of his university and on his way

to becoming a young doctor. He is very popular but he was very under-confident and negative. He was looking for God for a long time in religion and other spiritual things. One day he saw our band on the streets of Osaka and met one of our young Japanese Girls. She invited him to our Christmas production. I spoke

about true love and Hiroshi knew this was the thing that he had been looking for,

for so long! He responded that day and led some of his friends to God that

week. They got baptised together one week later.

Short Term Field Worker

A missionary assistant is someone

that wants to serve a field worker for

any period up to 2 years. They are

generally non-credentialed people

who fill positions such as medical

personnel, administrative roles,

multimedia specialists, tradesmen,

labourers and teachers.

Field Worker in Training*This position is for those volunteers who believe that God has called them to a lifetime of missionary service. To fulfil the experience requirements of a career field worker, ACC International provides a two-year, on-field program. The Field Worker in Training (FWT) serves the work of a career field worker within their area of calling.

What are the requirements to

serve as an ACC International

short-term field worker?

Each program has distinctive

requirements based on their length of

service and the position the applicant

is looking to fill. An applicant must be

a Christian who is in good standing

with their local ACC church.

How much will it cost, and how do I get money to serve overseas?

The cost does vary from field to field and varies depending on assignment and the cost of living in the country of service. The short-term field worker is expected to pay for all their costs, including transportation to and from the field, accommodation, food and personal needs. The funds are raised through the local church, family, friends, or their own personal savings.

What will I need to do before I leave?

ACC International recommends that the volunteer looks into the Visa requirements and

Immunization needs for their chosen field of service.

Will I be alone on the field?

Every short-term field worker serves

under the covering and mentorship

of a career field worker. You will

receive assignments and directions

from the field worker. The career

field worker is the person who

directs the work of the short-term field worker.

What if I don’t have a specific country in mind?

ACC International maintains a list of opportunities that have been submitted by our career field workers. We can match

your gifts, skills and training to a need on the field.

Are there any fees?There are fees based upon the

type of field worker position you are applying for, the

credential in which you hold and if you are a single or a

ker Katrina, a Field Worker in Beira,

Mozambique Africa has been busy with the beginning of a new school year and the crèche starting up again after recent holidays. The crèche now has 11 babies between 2 months to 18 months, plus 10 preschool children between 2-5 years. With seven workers under her care, this is keeping Katrina busy with the training and rostering.

Katrina is involved with the Hope Training Centre (HTC). HTC is a live-in leadership, mentoring, training and church planting centre. She is kept very busy with the responsibility of overseeing all aspects of the crèche including training all staff in child care and early child d e v e l o p m e n t . The crèche not only caters for the children of students at HTC, they also have many children attend whose parents are in the local prison. The Hope Centre focuses on child care, early learning and after school tuition.

John and Anne have been Non Resident Missionaries with ACCWM since 1998. They are passionate about making positive changes to the lives of the people in the country that serve. Key areas they have been working in are:

Lecturing in a Bible College which has 50 students studying full-time this year. Bible College students are trained for ministry and encouraged to plant new churches; there is much fruit from the churches which past students have planted. A new college building, including accommodation, has been in progress for some time and has now been completed. An evangelistic team has recently been formed of past and present students.

Some of the churches which have been planted have started community development programs such as adult literacy programs and a sewing school.

John and Anne have established a school to educate children from disadvantaged backgrounds who are susceptible to slave labour. Children are sponsored through ACC International Relief’s Child Sponsorship program, ‘One Child’.

Associate Field WorkerAn Associate Field Worker is one who has a specialized skill and is seconded to work with another specialized missions agency (e.g. Wycliffe).

Appointed SpecialistThe Appointed Specialist Field Worker uses their specialized vocational skills for a lifetime of service enhancing ministries overseas. They fulfil God’s call in their lives through their distinct gifts serving in positions such as: Teachers, Tradesmen, Medical Personnel, Technicians, Administrative Support.

Non-ResidentA Non-Resident Field Worker is one who is called to a lifetime work of missions, but is unable to serve in their called country due to the security risks to them and their family.

Ross and Donna – North Asia

Ross and Donna are senior missionaries that have been on the field for many years. They work in East Asia with 2 key focus areas. The first is the Advanced Leadership Training Institute. This program has been developed to enhance the leadership skills of key workers of the national church in North Asia. Ross and Donna have and continue to provide valuable training in the areas of developing emerging leaders, interpersonal relationships, conflict management, the leader and missions, strategy development, urban ministry and the character of the leader.

The second aspect of their work is a Missionary Training Program The national church in North Asia have a bold vision to send missionaries to the Middle East, as well as to the Buddhist and Hindu peoples of Asia. Ross and Donna have developed a missionary training program for cross-cultural workers to reach these people and to begin church planting movements among them.

John and Christine Santostefano – Europe

The Santostefanos love working with kids. A major part of their ministry has been the running of the very successful BOOST It! Training and tours across Europe as well as the Kidshaper UK conferences.

BOOST it! Training is the based on training Kids’ Leaders and the development of Kids Ministries.

BOOST Tour are a touring Kids’ outreach event, that goes around villages in Europe. These tours are designed to work alongside local churches, assisting them in building bridges into their community.

Kidshaper UK Conferences continue to bring fresh and inspirational sessions, showcasing some dynamic Australian and UK Kids’ Pastors.

The Santostefano family are also investigating and developing relationships with leaders in a number of other European countries, such as Albania, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic and Estonia.

Kids across Europe will have the opportunity to meet with Jesus at their own level, and will grow up with a hope and knowledge that their life has meaning.

Career Field WorkersA Career Field Worker is someone who has proven ministry within Australia and believe that they have a lifetime call to the work of missions. Their work includes: evangelism; indigenous leadership mentoring and training; church planting; and community development. Each field worker has their own unique skills, abilities and training which they utilize in their specific area of ministry.

do I need?

All our career workers need to be properly trained to qualify for an ACC

Credential and have the relevant ministry experience for a minimum

of two years before being approved as a Career Field Worker. However, if you lack the experience but feel a life

call to the work of missions then we recommend that you apply to become

a “Field Worker in Training”. How long do I have to raise my budget?

ACC International gives the applicant a period of up to

one year to raise their required budget. If the applicant has

not met budget in that time, the Missions Council will review the

application of the field worker.

How is my ministry financed?

A budget is worked through between ACC International and

the Field Worker based upon their needs, the costs of living

and ministry requirements. This is raised through the support of ACC Churches throughout

Australia who share the passion and vision of the Field Worker.

Am I required to visit the

ACC International

Operations Centre?

All applicants are required to

come to the ACC International

Operations Centre for their initial

applicant consultation, their pre-

field orientation and to meet with

the leadership and team of ACC

Do I need approval from my Senior Pastor and ACC District?

ACC International requires references from the applicant’s Senior Pastor. As the credential of an ACC Minister is issued by their local district, part of the application process also involves recommendations

from the district as well.

How long between my

application and going to field?

ACC International realizes that the

process for someone going to the field

as a career field worker is often a

journey that takes place over some

time. We have found that the length

between application and getting to

the field varies from case to case. It is

often determined by the applicant’s

ability to fulfil the necessary

requirements and raise the required

budget. Often this can take anything

from 4 months to a year.
