We all know that emergencies happen and we all hope that they

don’t happen often, but are we prepared for an emergency?

It used to be that during an emergency the first reaction was to

call 9-1-1. But now, in our neighborhood of Crown Heights, people

automatically think to call Hatzalah.

THAT CHANGE DID NOT HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT.

It took hard work, perseverance, and most importantly,

overwhelming support from our community and people like you, to

make Hatzalah into the reliable, life-saving service that is it today.

IT ALL STARTS WITH PHONE CALL

A person living in Crown Heights

knows that when something

goes wrong they call Hatzalah.

That phone call sets in motion a

series of seamlessly coordinated

events that will, with G-d’s help,

prevent a tragedy.

STATE-OF-THE-ART AMBULANCES…

Did you know that it costs $150,000 to purchase an

ambulance? Did you know that it costs $25,000 just to

maintain each ambulance every year? Many of us take

Hatzalah’s service for granted. Many of us do not realize

how much it costs to sustain the best volunteer

ambulance in the world.

But as important as ambulances are, Hatzalah’s most

valuable assets are our members…

…in Crown Heights and always readyto respond to an emergency.

…members equipped with the most advanced, State-of-the-art,

life-saving equipment to ensure that each patient gets the best

possible care and opportunity for a full recovery. Hundreds of

pieces of equipment —radios, defibrillators, medications and

more—must be well-maintained and serviced. It is no wonder

that our budget is almost $275,000 a year. Because saving lives

deserves the very best.

Hatzalah’s members are thoroughly trained and always available…

DEDICATED MEMBERS INCROWN HEIGHTS…

That means our members are on call and available to help

literally 24/7 all year long. That means stopping in the middle

of the Seder on Pesach night or leaving shul on Yom Kippur to

answer a call for help.

Because that’s what it means to be a dedicated Hatzalah

member. And don’t forget, they’re all volunteers. Hatzalah is a

100% volunteer organization with the best coordinated

volunteer staff of any organization in the world.

Because we take our responsibility very seriously on behalf of

the members of our community…
