    Introduction

Technology Development is not one-size fits all. There are many ability levels thatspan from novice to expert. Trying to meet all their needs in one professionaldevelopment is unreasonable. To remedy this, we have designed this professionaldevelopment to meet in their ability groups. Here, teachers will be surrounded bylike-minded people that are struggling with the same things they are. Theirpresentations will look to meet them at their level and stretch them a little further.

    Description of Sections

This professional development has been divided into ability groups. Teachers willtake the pre-assessment to see how successful they are at incorporating technologyinto their classrooms. Based on this evaluation, they will be grouped into beginning, intermediate, and advanced sections. Each section will focus on developing the skills

of that group. Their formats are similar, but the activities and presentations aregeared toward expanding the teachers current technology use.

Beginners- Tech StartersThis group is for teachers with little to no technology experience. Their classroomslook very traditional and rely mainly on textbooks and white boards to get thingsdone. Teachers in this ability may or may not be comfortable with basic tasks suchas checking their e-mail, typing a document, or finding information online.

The goal of this professional development is to expose them to these ideas and showthem how to use it in their classrooms. We will also strive to alleviate any fearsaround technology by helping/providing troubleshooting advice and documents tothem. Part of their homework will be to get their students using computers in atleast one lesson a week. Administrators will be responsible for supporting andevaluating this goal.

Intermediate- New IdeasThis group is for teachers that are comfortable with technology in their own lives, but are uncertain how to use it in their classrooms. Their classrooms looktraditional, however, the students may use computers for researching or gatheringinformation. Teachers in this group will know the basic functions of computers.

They may or may not own a smart phone or tablet computer.

The goal of this professional development is to equip these teachers to usetechnology in a more integrated manner. We will focus on everyday things thatstudents can be doing with computers and other technology. We will also discussthe management of these devices and students content. Administrators will beresponsible for assisting with troubleshooting that comes along with using newideas. They will hold teachers accountable for integrating technology, but also beflexible to know its a learning process and things go wrong.

Advanced- Boundary TestersThis group is designed for teachers that are experts at using technology. Given thetools, their classrooms would use technology for the majority of the day. Theseteachers often are the go-to people for the building. They have a natural knack for

figuring out issues and fixing problems.

The goal of this professional development is to stretch these teachers to integratetechnology into all aspects of their teaching. Using Project Based Learning theseteachers will craft lessons that span several curriculum areas, standards, and days ofinstruction. They will strive to increase engagement and understanding throughtheir own projects. Administrators will have to be aware that for this group, flexibility is key. These teachers will likely be adjusting their schedules toaccommodate these projects. Their classrooms will look less structured, but doneright, much learning will take place. Administrators should support these teachersin their endeavor and evaluate them based on student knowledge of the topic.
