(ICA).(2) ThisAlertServiceBulletinprovidesinstructionsforavisualinspectionofthe

counterweights,blades,andtheassociatedmountinghardwareontheaffectedpropellers.

(3) ThisAlertServiceBulletinprovidesinstructionsforremovalandinspectionofthecounterweights,blades,andtheassociatedmountinghardwareontheaffectedpropellers.

(a) Within 120daysfromthereleasedateofthisAlertServiceBulletin, performtheVisualInspectioninaccordancewiththeAccomplishmentInstructionsinthisAlert Service Bulletin.

(a) Thespinnerdomefastenerscanbereused.

(2) Visuallyexaminethefollowingsurfacesforcorrosion(refertoFigure1):

• CounterweightMountingBolts

• MountingBoltRecesses-BottomSurface (Ifthereissealantonthissurface,donotremoveitforvisualinspection).

WARNING: TIGHTENTHETHREADEDRODUNTIL ITISSNUG.THEFEATHERINGSPRING ISPRELOADEDWITHAPPROXIMATELY 600LBS.(271.8KG)OFFORCE.FAILURE TOTIGHTENTHETHREADEDRODONTO THEPITCHCHANGERODCANCAUSE THEFEATHERINGSPRINGTORELEASE WHENMOVINGTHEBLADESBACKTO FEATHER.THISCANCAUSEPROPELLER DAMAGE,SERIOUSINJURYAND/OR DEATH.(a) Tightenthethreadedroduntilitissnug.

(2) PutthecylindricalpartoftheunfeatheringtoolTE316overthethreadedrodandputitontopofthecylinder.(a) Putthenotchinthebottomoftheunfeatheringtool

TE316overthestopplateonthetopofthecylinder.





(3) Installthe1-1/2inchnutontothethreadedrodoftheunfeathering tool TE316.(a) Turnthe1-1/2inchnutuntilittouchesthethrust

bearing.(b) Continueturningthenutuntilthebladesmovetoan

anglethatwillpermitaccesstothecounterweightclamphardwareonthetrailedgeoftheblade.

CAUTION: DONOTUSEBLADEPADDLESTOTURNBLADES.

b Afterremovingthecorrosion,movethepropellerbladestofeather position, then remove the unfeathering tool TE316 in accordancewiththefollowingsteps.

WARNING: MAKESURETHETHREADEDROD OFTHEUNFEATHERINGTOOLTE316 DOESNOTROTATEWHENLOOSENING THE1-1/2INCHNUT.THEFEATHERING SPRINGISPRELOADEDWITH APPROXIMATELY600LBS.OFFORCE. IFTHETHREADEDRODOFTHE UNFEATHERINGTOOLROTATES,THE SPRINGCANRELEASE,CAUSINGTHE 1-1/2INCHNUTTOBECOMEADANGEROUS PROJECTILE.THISCANCAUSEPROPELLER DAMAGEORSERIOUSINJURY.

(1) Loosenthe1-1/2inchnutoftheunfeatheringtoolTE316untilthebladesmovetofeatherposition.

(2) Removethethreadedrodandthecylindricalpartoftheunfeathering tool TE316.

(4) InstallthespinnerdomeinaccordancewithHartzellPropellerInc.Owner'sManual149(61-00-49).

(5) MakeanentryinthepropellerlogbookindicatingthedateoftheVisualInspectionascompliancewiththisAlertServiceBulletin.





B. Counterweight/BladeInspectionandRepair

(1) Thisproceduremustbeperformedbyacertifiedpropellerrepairstationwith the appropriate rating.

(2) Removeanddiscardthecounterweightattachinghardware.

(3) RemovethecounterweightsinaccordancewiththeBladeShankOverhaulchapterinHartzellPropellerInc.AluminumBladeOverhaulManual133C (61-13-33).

(4) Inspectthecounterweightsandblades inaccordancewiththeBlade ShankOverhaulchapterinHartzellPropellerInc.AluminumBladeOverhaulManual133C(61-13-33).

(a) Ifrequired,repairorreplacecomponentsinaccordancewiththeBladeShankOverhaulchapterinHartzellPropellerInc.AluminumBladeOverhaulManual133C(61-13-33).

(5) InstallthecounterweightsandreassemblethepropellerinaccordancewiththeHartzellPropellerInc.overhaulmanualslistedbelow:
