37 is a video art gallery experiment started by H. Cenk Dereli and Ekin İdiman. 37 presents works of various national and international video artists for periods of two weeks through one of the last 37 cm CRT TVs standing, which was once almost in every house and in every room, while enriching these presentations with artist talks for the exploration of video art.

To produce critical contents in all aspects for creative fields and to distribute it in all platforms via media channels Kontraakt has been created in 2013 by H. Cenk Dereli, Hayrettin Günç and Yelta Köm, as an independent communication tool experiment that is provocative to create discussions, pluralist in moderation, destructive to engaged designer and market positions by using alternative media tools. The radio show with the motto "Açık Mimarlık (Open Architecture), talks on different phases of architecture" is on air since 27 November 2011 on Açık Radyo Istanbul every Thursday at 11:30 am. Izmir Design Days was a one week long program with movie screenings, lectures of international designers, PechaKucha Night İzmir, exhibitions and design forums with presence of stakeholders from film, technology, architecture, communication, fashion and industrial design fields. PechaKucha Nights (started 2003 in Tokyo) are informal and fun gatherings where creative people get together and share their ideas, works, thoughts, holiday snaps -- just about anything, really -- in the PechaKucha 20x20 format. Now it is organized more than 800 cities on the globe by local initiatives. November 2013 H. Cenk Dereli started the event in Izmir, Turkey to answer these questions: What's happening in Izmir on creative idea and design culture? Who's producing what in the creative fields, what are their inspiring stories? Since then, in various venues event continues to enlarge its audience and collects the stories of local creative people.

Randevu events are creatives excuses to meet. The founders of the events started it to live the life that they want to live in Izmir. First events did bring music, design and fashion together and organized as designers market where people can shop, enjoy the live music and dj sets and attend to workshops. Now, Randevu continues its life with more focused events in the fields like cinema, design and music.

Tasarım Maratonu (Design Marathon) focuses on themes about the future to create ideas that will effect the very moment we live in. Groups produce ideas in a collective space byusin any kind of design tools while not hiding their ideas from each other but while sharing and being nourished by the productive energy of this open platform and finish up their ideas with a digital file in a specific format. The aim of the event is not to force the participant to compete but to create an environment of thinking, production, and discussion flourished with the knowledge and experiences of the participants. Event started in 2011 by H. Cenk Dereli, FundaUz and Şebnem Şoher. Since 2012 it is organized by H. Cenk Dereli.

#occupygezi architecture The protests in Istanbul indicated one simple thing for architects (designers?): We need new definitions for architecture in situations when architecture is removed from architects.Each unique structure that we encounter in the streets and Gezi Park has its own in-situ design and implementation process. Documentation of these temporary structures is of huge importance for further examination, considering their limited life-cycle.

FREEDOM - ÖZGÜRLÜK They say we are living in a time when everybody is much more free and anything is much more possible compared to the past. A standard life is offered to all of us that we may live unless we don't get 'much' radical. But if we choose to live that life, it becomes harder to think on and talk about some concepts. Under the pressure of migration, climatic disasters and so-called democracies, it is almost impossible to talk about concepts of freedom and homeland. Work overcomes the censorship by disorienting the letter order that makes them nonsense or multiple-sense. This situation extends also the encounter time of the spectator with the work. The one that knows this riddle hangs these concepts with cheap standard frames on his/her wall and keep them in his/her memories without putting him/herself into danger.

In the near, potential future; after the earthquake and urban renovation projects, Istanbul has got denser and higher even on the Bosphorus coast. first, second and third bridges was never enough, so 4th tunnel has also been built already. Kanal Istanbul project has been finished and only small part of the northern forests survived. so small that they managed as tiny nature parks by municipality. In this situation, city dwellers have only one public space to go!

Proposal for the competition "Switzerland, We Have a Problem" by Archinet web portal is a pressurized steam minaret. Minarets are used as towers where ezan has been sung and as landmarks that define the place of the mosques. The steam minaret becomes only visible during the call to pray hours, five times in the day. After the decision that bans the constructions of minarets in Switzerland, this competition has been organized to collect critical proposals against that ban.
