APARTMENT DECOR MAINTENANCE

Skirt Space Issues with DecorativeCloth Who is Responsible if I Have a Break-In?Storage space presents a challenge for manyrenters, but a little creative thinking can providesome extra space to stow your belongings andbrighten up the apartment at the same time.

Stand up sinks, end tables and side tables andeven benches can be transformed into mini-closets with a simple decorative skirt. And, theease of attaching and detaching a skirt meansthat you can readily transform your apartmentany time you're ready for a change of décor.

Use seasonal colors, holiday prints or just switchout your pattern when you're ready forsomething new. You can find a wide variety ofready-made sizes and colors or create your ownwith the fabric of your choice, elastic and a littleVelcro.

Random crime can occur even in the nicest neighborhoods. Generally, managementtakes responsibility for any damage to the building during a break-in; the propertyowner's insurance typically covers costs such as repairing a door or window. However, residents are responsible for their own belongings. That's one reason thatmanagement recommends renter's insurance for all occupants; that small monthly feecan ensure that your personal property is protected in the event of a burglary.

In order to take advantage of these protections, it's important that you follow certainprocedures. For example, most insurance companies will require a police report beforeconsidering a claim based on a break-in, so you'll want to contact the policeimmediately. And, you'll need to contact management right away to determine whatkind of information and paperwork is required.

Failing to take action, document the incident, report to law enforcement or providerequired documentation could end up costing you money. And, you may be liable ifyour negligence caused the break-in, so be sure to follow your lease terms and takereasonable security precautions.
