• Total 14 schemes covering 230 families

• Command area coverage 140 acres

• 11 schemes are operational in Kharif and Rabi season

• Crops taken: Vegetable, fruit tree plantation

• Average area under vegetable: 30 decimal/farmer

• Average area under fruit tree plantation: 50 decimal/farmer.

Current Project 100 schemes in Koraput and Rayagada Districts in

collaboration with two partner NGOs Pragati and OPDSC.

First year 20 schemes- 5 Harsha Trust, 10 Pragati and 5 OPDSC.

Implementation work is in progress in all the sites.

• OPDSC: 5 schemes covering 218 families irrigating 117 acres

• Pragati: 10 schemes covering 251 families irrigating 332 acres

Plan for Agriculture in DBI Sites(Harsha Trust)

• In two villages, vegetable cultivation with drip irrigation with 45 families

• 70 families in vegetable cultivation and 36 families in paddy cultivation

• Live hedge with Glaricidia

Improving Agriculture through DBI

• Focus on vegetable cultivation from Kharif itself

• Drip has worked better to reduce the fear of water shortage

• Horticulture plantation with convenience of watering the

plants.

Progress in Agriculture

• Covering 500 families under Drip irrigation in DBI sites: 400 families in all the DBI’s implemented by Pradan in Balliguda.

• Introduction of vegetable cultivation after fruit tree plantation

• Alternate material for fencing are available and can be mobilised through convergence.

Learning

• Moving to high value crops motivate farmers- vegetables and fruit tree plantation.

• Drip can enhance water use efficiency to great extend, DBI is feasible in villages earlier identified as not suitable.

• Fencing has been a major road block in progressing first generations farmers to higher level.
