Harry Winston’s lavish Fare

The new sporty limited edition timepiece by Harry Winston, the Ocean GMT Traveler, promises to

whet the appetite of a global traveller. The watch marries style and technical finesse in a manner never seen before. A robust 45mm white or rose gold case features two sub-dials. The larger dial is positioned at 2 o’clock, and displays the primary time-zone; and the smaller dial is situated at 9 o’clock which displays the secondary time-zone. Scaling up the traditional GMT function the watch shows the name of the visited city on a “jumping display”, listing 24 cities representing each time zone. The single-axis tourbillon is located at 6 o’clock. The watch, which is displayed on an alligator strap, is also available with baguette or brilliant diamonds.

Couture jeweller Minawala has launched a designer diamond jewellery line using a riot of colours. The

Queen’s Collection, which features shades of yellow diamonds from flaming orange to subtle and pale yellow, includes necklaces, earrings, pendants, rings, bangles, chains accompanied by matching bejewelled jewellery boxes.

“Designed for the carefree woman of the world, the new collection mirrors the sensuality of her personality by bringing attention to where it matters. Our strengths are culture, style, vision and creativity,” says designer jeweller Shehzad Zaveri.

Jewellery designer Devaunshi Mehta unveiled her exquisite range of diamond jewellery under the renowned brand

“DiA,” in October at the HDIL Couture Week. In her latest collection, Mehta brings together the

magnificence and simplicity of traditional designs that resonate with Indian culture.

“At DiA, we look beyond fashion to create jewellery that will become family heirlooms in times to come. The quality of jewellery is determined by a stringent selection of diamonds and precious stones matched and especially cut to suit the designs crafted by the best Indian craftsmen,” explains Mehta. “Flat and rose cut diamonds have been used in India since the Mughal era. We are reviving this lost craft and using these stones in beautiful and contemporary settings.”

The collection consists of pieces designed for daily and formal wear. The necklaces, earrings, bracelets and cuffs are all set in white gold. The pearl diamond necklace and earrings are crafted in floral motifs, incorporating 18kt white gold with super deluxe quality of diamonds and cultured pearls. The Indo-western emerald crown set is made of super deluxe quality round diamonds and baguettes with leaf-shaped emeralds embedded in it. The flower cuff and earrings are

encrusted with diamonds set in white gold. The “piece de resistance” is an 18kt white gold handbag studded with 64.75 carats.

Sea Tzaritsa shell earrings from Les Fables de Fabergé, the precious ornaments of a fabulous mermaid, a water-nymph or daughter of the SeaTzar, are set with over 1,000 stones. The earrings are embedded with gems like diamonds, aquamarines, demantoid garnets, Paraiba tourmalines, tsavorites, and misty moonstones.

The Vagabonde Drapee ring, encapsulating the high bohemia of Russian artistic circles, is layered with lavish contours, highlighting intensity of colour and form. The central spinel of 8.52 carats is enveloped in rose gold and palladium-plated white gold. Pavé set shades of white and pink diamonds, and pink-red sapphires add a heightened sense of colour gradation to the ring.

From the series of Les Fauves De Fabergé, the gem studded ring is fluid in form and bursts with intense blue colour.

The double bangle suggests the charm of the cultivated bohemian St Petersburg artistic circle. Crafted in white and pink gold, the bangle is layered with nearly 2,000 white diamonds of mixed cuts and punctuated by sugar-pink diamonds.

The green clover ring reminds one of Fabergé’s Clover Egg of 1902. It has a circle of four-leaf clovers, and is composed of rare grass green demantoid garnets; the pavé set leaves with single centre stones, have their flowing edges lined with white diamonds.

The Eglantine earrings, which are part of Le Spectre de la Rose series, are pavé set with white diamonds, mixed with blue-grey diamonds adding shade and depth, and scattered with pink diamonds and rubies to recreate the wild rose’s shy pink blush.

Les Fables De Fabergé taps into the richness of Russian fable and folklore, breathing life into the jewelled pieces with Russian soul. “Fairytales, called Skazki were narrated by master storytellers, while the ritualised epic poems, called Byliny, were sung by medieval minstrels roaming the country.” The fables have been used as the canvas to evoke iconographic designs in this Faberge line.

The third collection titled Les Fauves De Fabergé glorifies Russia’s Silver Age, the pre-revolution years of the early 20th century, when “the Russian artistic and intellectual genius took the world by storm.” The line underscores the Bohemian flavour of this modernist vision.

The hibiscus cuff mimics life by interpreting the flower perfectly by using 2,300 rubies and pink, yellow

and white diamonds.

Bangalore-based couture jeweller C Krishniah Chetty & Sons (CKC) unveiled a limited edition of its line

called the ‘Bouquet of Birthstones’ jewellery representing each month of the year. The floral designs are highlighted with delicate enamelling, diamonds, and coloured stones associated with the months.

The stunning designs in white and yellow gold are aesthetically crafted and are appealing to the senses. Every single piece uses a different flower and a relevant gemstone to signify different emotions such as love, friendship, innocence, good luck related to the zodiac month.

For instance, jewellery for the month of January uses white carnations and garnets, the birthstones for Aquarius, to assure good fortune. Violets and amethyst find the place

of honour in jewels for those born in February. While the November-born can pick the neckpiece decorated with chrysanthemum which signifies compassion, friendship and yellow topaz, which symbolizes generosity. Turquoise associated with the planet Jupiter is believed to protect the wearer born in December from harm. Narcissus, the white flower connotes that the recipient is a sweet, gentle person.
