About me

I am an Accredited Executive Coach, business advisor and board member with thirty years experience in the business, not-for-profit and public sectors.

My executive and non-executive roles have included professional services, not for profit, regulatory, cultural, creative, design and innovation, business support, NDPB, higher education and charity.

I am the founder of More Potential Limited, the Registrar of Consultant Lobbyists, sit on the boards of the Press Recognition Panel and the Glasgow School of Art and am a mentor in the Fluid Diversity programme. I am a non-practising solicitor, Companion of the Chartered Management Institute and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

I was Chief Executive of the Royal Institute of British Architects, Deputy Chief Executive of the Design Council and have developed and sold two businesses. I was a board member of the government’s Creative Industries Council, the US-based Design Management Institute, Advertising Standards Authority and a number of charities.

My approach to Executive Coaching

In my experience businesses and organisations perform better when their leaders understand themselves and their world. The conviction that greater awareness is key to making better decisions and working better drives my work with leaders and organisations.

My approach to Executive Coaching is goal oriented and improves leadership and management performance, develops professional confidence, resilience, self-awareness and fulfilment and sustains change long into the future.

To make the change deep and sustainable I work with the wisdom, experience and knowledge of the person being coached. I assist, challenge and encourage, rather than direct, advise or solve.

My experience means that I deliver most value to those with significant levels of professional responsibility. Most often we work on issues and behaviours that have an impact on performance, professional relationships, satisfaction and growth.
