Postage FeeIn order to cover the cost of postage, there is an additional £1 charge for postal orders, however you can choose to pick your tickets up on the door of the concert or at the office prior to the event.

Booking FeePlease note that all bookings are subject to a £1.75 booking fee, including in-person sales. Our fee per booking covers the cost of processing your transaction, debit and credit card fees, staffing, developing and maintaining our booking software.

Old Swan Hotel

Dating back to the 1840s, the Old Swan Hotel is one of Harrogate’s oldest and most cherished hotels. The hotel’s Victorian splendour and traditional elegance is complemented by a modern and contemporary environment.

The hotel has 175 free car parking spaces and full disabled access. If travelling by train, the Old Swan Hotel is located a five minute walk or a short taxi drive from the railway station.

Enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon after the Sunday Series performances with a traditional 3 course lunch at the Old Swan Hotel. Lunch is available on all performance dates and booking is recommended. The Badke Quartet is widely recognised as one of Britain’s finest string quartets. Winners of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in 2007, the Badke Quartet has received widespread acclaim for its energetic and vibrant performances. Their recording of Brahms and Mendelssohn was praised as ‘heart-stoppingly expressive’ and they frequently broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. Hailed by critics and audiences around the world for her distinct voice, maturity, technical brilliance and heartfelt musicianship, Simone Lamsma is one of classical music’s most thrilling rising stars. Lamsma began studying violin aged 5 and studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and is now one of the most successful Dutch soloists. Performing with American pianist Robert Kulek, Lamsma will be taking us on an emotional journey performing Schumann’s brooding Sonata in F and Janacek’s intensely emotional Violin Sonata.

Welcome to the 22nd Sunday Series in this remarkable year.

2015 marks the 50th anniversary of Harrogate International Festivals. To celebrate half a century showcasing the finest international musicians, we’re delighted to present a stellar programme. Over the coming months, you won’t have to travel to London, New York, or Berlin to experience the world’s brightest talents.

Opening the series is the phenomenal Sunwook Kim, the youngest winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition. Joining the line-up is one of Britain’s finest string quartets, the Badke Quartet, followed by the exceptional talent of Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma.Emma Johnson, one of the Festival’s Young Musicians who went on to become Britain’s favourite clarinettist, returns to Harrogate and closing the series with Italian panache is pianist Federico Colli.

Emma Johnson is one of few clarinettists to have established a busy solo career which has taken her to major European, American and Asian venues as well as to Africa and Australasia. As one of the Young Musicians alumni of Harrogate International Festivals who went on to global fame, it is with great delight we welcome her back to Harrogate with Irish pianist Finghin Collins. This prodigious pair present an eclectic programme of transposed duets including Beethoven’s Variations on La Ci Darem La Mano, the jazz inspirations of Bernstein and Brahms’ clarinet masterpiece Sonata No. 1.

Winner of the 2012 Leeds International Piano Competition, Colli made his eagerly anticipated Southbank Centre recital debut in 2014. The young Italian pianist from Brescia, with his engaging stage presence and trademark cravat, has played a series of prestigious concert tours playing in some of the greatest halls worldwide. Described as rapt and gloriously poetic, he’s been praised for his subtlety, wit and breathtaking performances. Presenting a programme of Mozart, Schumann and Scrabian, Colli is sure to bring the Sunday Series to a triumphant close.

Born in South Korea, Sunwook Kim began piano aged 3 and secured the international spotlight at just 18 when he won the prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition in 2006. He went on to tour extensively in Europe, America and Japan and his BBC Proms debut showed a maturity beyond his years. Kim will be performing a programme that will showcase his impressive skill and established style including Bach’s technically demanding Partita No. 2 and the Mussorgsky’s virtuosic Pictures at an Exhibition. Described as simply ‘spellbinding’, he was recently selected by the Beethoven-haus in Bonn granting him access to a unique collection and resources.
