Connection

• In season two one of the main characters, Spencer Reid, is kidnapped by Tobias Hankle. Tobias struggles with DID. His personalities are Tobias and Tobias’s father. His father is the one who tortures and kills the victims and Tobias is the personality that tries to save the victims before his father finds out. Reid’s team must find him with little clues to where Tobias has him with little evidence which includes a computer and live feed of Reid. As his father, he ties Reid up and gives him a homemade mix of drugs.

My take• The writers must have done some research on psychological

instabilities or had some basis knowledge of mental disorders to use multiple personalities in the show. • The writers were able to show what could happen with someone who

has this disorder along with other unstable minds.• The audience does not see that mental disorders do not always make

a person a murderer.
