I N T R O D U C T I O N

Some people recognize the name Harriet Tubman right away, and if you don't know her, life today would not be the same. Harriet's plan was to end slavery but not only

that, she helped over a thousand slaves to safety. Her job was risky but she knew what she was doing was right.

Harriet would never go down without a fight. Her story is heroic with many adventures. Harriet died on March 10,

in 1913 at the age of 93.

Harriet was born in Dorchester county Maryland, in 1820 and was born a slave. She was originally born Araminta Ross, but later took the name of her mother

Harriet Ross. As a child she had to start work at a very young age and was often beaten by her masters. Once she was whipped so hard

one of her masters broke her ribs.

shopping with the cook, and she saw a slave owner chasing his slave that was

trying to run away. He finally caught the slave and ordered Harriet to help tie the slave down so the slave

could be beaten

Harriet said no because she knew it was wrong. The slave owner was so shocked, the slave slipped out of his

hands and ran for the door. The slaver owner then grabbed a weight used for weighing foods and threw it

at the door.

T H E A C C I D E N T It hit Harriet in the head, and she fell to the floor bleeding.

This caused disabling seizures, narcoleptic attacks, headaches,

and powerful visionary and dream experiences that

occurred throughout her life. Sometimes while working, she

would pass out

T H E H E R O Harriet Tubman is especially known for being a conductor . She worked

in something called the Underground Railroad, and helped

slaves get the freedom they deserve. She led over a thousand slaves to freedom, and was one of

the smartest conductors on the Underground Railroad (a

conductor is the person who leads the slaves to freedom. She never

lost a slave,and helped a lot of her family members to freedom.

F R E E D O M !Harriet always had her little technics to helping

slaves get their freedom. She would always bring pepper and a rifle. She would bring pepper for

when slave hunters would use hounds to pick up their scent. She would sprinkle the pepper on their

tracks to cover the scent. She would also bring a rifle because, if people wanted to turn back she would threaten to shoot them because if they

would go back they would get caught and then every body else would get caught as well.

named john Tubman, at about the age of twenty two. Harriet then latter escaped without her husband and when she

came back to get her husband, he had already

remarried someone else. He said he had no attention of leaving his new wife. Harriet

was heart broken

Harriet was recruited for the union army. She worked as a cook and nurse feeding the solders and caring for them. But, later she then was promoted to a spy and a armed

scout. She would spy on the enemies and gather important information.

Harriet Tubman connects to me because she never gave up and I want to be like her. She was very smart and strong and don't forget

she was small, like me. I can relate to her because she was a huge role model and I

really want to be like her. She made history and did what was right. That is why I want to

be like her and how I connect to her. I want to do what is right

So, as we can see Harriet Tubman influenced many peoples lives. She changed history and suffered many years, but also enjoyed many years too. Harriet fought

for what was right and always believed what she was doing was right.
