A celebration 110 years in the makingwill be held in Milwaukee from Aug. 29 toSept. 1, as devoted Harley-Davidson own-

ers from across the world will hit the roadand converge on Milwaukee for severaldays of music, factory tours and displaysabout the companys history.

With a theme of "110 Years ofFreedom," the Harley-Davidson anniversarywill feature 60 bands over three days onfive stages on the Summerfest grounds overthree days. Tours of the company's facilitieswill also be offered. The following is a sam-pling of events and activities during the cel-ebration.

ompetitions. Along the way, visitorsan learn when Harley-Davidson signa-res such as the low frame andardrop gas tanks were first imple-ented.

The museum also shows how theompany changed as America

changed. Cycles used by police andthe US Post Office are on display, asare cycles that were developed for useby the Army during World War II. Signsof dealers and from the past 110 years

and advertisements fill the walls of themuseum.

A section of the museum is set asidefor how Harley-Davidson cyclesbecame part of America's popular cul-ture. Replicas of the cycles driven in the1969 movie "Easy Rider" are on dis-play, as are movie posters and albumcovers featuring Harley-Davidsoncycles.

nniversary celebration will have an eco-omic impact of $20 million for Milwaukeend surrounding areas. That figure includesotels used by visitors and food consumed atcal restaurants.

While hotel space is at a premium duringe Harley-Davidson anniversary celebra-on, Germantown Area Chamber ofommerce Executive Director Lynn Grgichnt out a letter to chamber members indi-
