Mr. Adinarayana Rao, Mrs. Ashwini Sathe to serve on the nomination committee panel –to

nominate 2013 committee along with Mr. Sankar Basava and Mr. Virendra Trivedi.

Pancham (R. D. Burman Musical) - HARI Trust Fund’s fund-raising event:

We are pleased to announce that we organized “Pancham” HARI Trust Fund raising program, and we were able to generate $16,818.49 after the expenses. Here are the details of the event financials.

A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMITTEE It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of the year. This year’s committee brought a combination of experienced, and youth, enthusiasm and confidence, and most importantly, a sincere passion and dedication to serve HARI which made 2012 a very fruitful year. We are delighted with some very successfully activities this year. We have completed many Projects aimed at enhancing the facility for broader use. Among them were beautiful landscaping, repainting the upper hallway wood trims, installing new Washer and Dryer, power-washing the downstairs floor, electrical work, first ever Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam, 108 Maha Kumbh Yagna, Pancham-The immortal Note (R. D. Burman’s Musical event) fund raising event, Sunday School Bus Trip, and more. The temple grounds have been attractively maintained to a great extent with admirable enthusiasm by many volunteers and HARI school youth. HARI devotees embrace the HARI Temple with so much affection and the number of memberships this year confirms that. We have huge turnout for the events throughout the year. We did lot of improvements in the format of email communications and the format of the communication and it is well received by HARI devotees. Our priests are very much motivated to serve HARI devotees. We have serviced many special Pujas this year in addition to the many regular ones. The temple doors are open from morning 8:00AM to 9:00PM in the weekends to serve HARI devotees. Also, HARI priest services are extended seven days a week to fulfill all of devotee’s religious needs. In addition to our regularly celebrated functions, we introduced several new events. We have performed over 60 HARI programs this year. We also invited renowned scholars and artists from here and abroad for religious discourses and classical performances. We held an exciting and very entertaining social gathering, India Fair, celebrating the HARI Anniversary. The success of these was evident by the large attendance to these events.

We continued to focus on the long-term sustenance and growth of the organization through the “HARI Trust Fund” efforts. HARI held “Pancham-RB Burman’s Musical event) to raise funds for the Trust Fund and we were able to raise $16,888 just in two weeks period. We gave scholarships of $500 each to three students to assist with their higher studies.

With excellent services provided by priests as well as a growing group of new volunteers for the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustee positions, we are convinced that the HARI Temple will continue to remain a vibrant presence serving the cultural and religious needs of the Hindu community in this region. This year we will celebrate “Diwali – Annual Day” on Saturday, November 17, 2012. Please plan to attend and enjoy the function and seek the blessings of Lord Rama for “Good Health, Peace, and Prosperity.”

Hindu American Religious Institute “HARI” has been blessed with a congregation that has supported it unstintingly since the inception in 1975. That support has led to one of the most prominent Hindu landmarks in the capital of Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We thank the founders and senior members of HARI congregation for their vision and commitment.

This legacy must now be nurtured and preserved for future generations. In 2004, the Board of trustees had initiated a “HARI Long Term Self Sufficiency” initiative.

The Foundation for Enhancing Communities “TFEC” Harrisburg (formerly known as Harrisburg Foundation), under the direction of the HTF Coordinator, and Steering Committee.

What is “Sri Hanuman Tree”? It is a donor recognition sculpture designed by the famous artist “Sanford Werfel”, located on the

ground floor, just below the deity of Lord Rama. Based on the amount of donation, name (Children, Parents, Business or Yours) will be inscribed on

the leaves of the tree. You are welcome to donate any amount to HARI for any initiatives. Any donation above $2,500 over five

years towards HTF or Projects or General Donations or other Gift Instruments will be recognized in the tree.

Why does HARI need an Endowment (HARI Trust Fund “HTF”)?

Operating expenses go up each year as costs of our utilities, insurance, staff compensations, facility maintenance, and supplies rise. Operating income needs to be supplemented for maintain facility and expanding services.

To provide long term self-sufficiency and growth for HARI Temple.

What is the Goal of HTF? To have a minimum of One Million Dollar $1,000,000 in the HTF.

HARI SCHOOL Namaste!

HARI School reopened in September. This year we are expecting a record number of students to

enroll in the school. We have 62 new students and 66 returning students!

HARI School offers classes in various languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu and

Tamil. 75 students are registered for 2 religion classes where they learn about Hinduism, our

culture, and way of life.

We have two new, highly qualified, teachers for Bharat Natyam and Tabla classes. The Folk Dance

and Devotional Music classes are also back full in action. We are looking for a new Gujarati

volunteer teacher, if interested please contact the school director.

Youth Forum for children age 13 and up are busy taking SAT practice class and lessons in Bhadvad

Gita. Occasionally, they also get involved in community volunteer activities.

On Nov 4, we took two buses full of students and parents to visit Siva Vishnu Temple and Murugan

Temple in Maryland. Students learned about the various deities at these temples. Everyone had lot

of fun and good time.

We thank all our Sunday school lunch sponsors. We welcome new lunch sponsors for the coming

weeks.

We invite you to visit the temple on Sunday morning and feel the school atmosphere. Please bring

along your children or grandchildren along with; it is never too late to enroll them in the school.

We sincerely thank the Board of Trustees and the executive committee for their full support for the

school. As Mr. Basava is completing his term as the President, we extend him a special thanks for

his support for the past year and we are looking forward to work with Mr. Patel in coming year.

Satyanarayan Puja: HARI observes the Satyanarayan Puja on each full moon day (Purnima) from 7:15pm to 9:00pm, seeking Lord’s blessings for good health, peace, and prosperity. Devotees can participate in the Puja (a token donation of $21 is recommended)

Lord Venkateswara Swamy (Lord Balaji) Abhishekam: Observed on the first Saturday of every month from 10.00 AM till 12.00 noon. (a token donation of $21 is recommended)

Monthly Havan: HARI devotees conduct Monthly Havan on second Sunday of each month from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Any change to this schedule will be communicated through email. Devotees are encouraged to participate and sponsor the Monthly Havan. Devotees who wish to sponsor the Monthly Havan and/or dinner Prasad are requested to contact any of the HARI committee members

Jain Swadhayay/Puja: Observed on the first Sunday of every month from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, organized by the Jain Samaj of South Central PA. Devotees are encouraged to participate with friends and family.
