What will Memphis look like in fifteen years?

What obligation do we have to shape the

future of our city? We believe in the goodness

of Memphis, even in the midst of its struggles.

For Memphis to reach its fullest potential,

we will need leaders and citizens who make

intentional choices to unite the city, not divide

it. If you take a close look at Harding Academy

right now, you will see those future leaders and

citizens who have the strength and courage to

make the choices that will unite Memphis. Our

students are smart, creative, and strong. But

more important, they are courageous.

In fifteen years, when leaders look back to

analyze what led to the most meaningful

impact on the advancement of our city,

they will point out institutions that made

intentional choices–difficult choices–that made

the unity and restoration of Memphis a priority.

I believe you will find Harding Academy on

that list of institutions that played a role in the

transformation of Memphis.

We believe God’s Kingdom is one of redemption,

reconciliation and restoration. We are preparing

our students to be leaders of reconciliation and

restoration in the world–shaping a world where

the values of the Kingdom reign supreme. We

are providing the academic instruction they will

need to be valuable problem solvers. Our athletic

programs make our athletes physically strong and

competitive, but also strengthen their decision

making for later life. We celebrate creativity

through our fine arts program that empowers

student artists and musicians to create and

inspire. However, our highest and most treasured

task is helping our students develop the courage

to employ all of their unique strengths and skills

for God’s transformative work here on this earth.
