Julius Cadorna Master
Brethren and Ladies,
I would like to congratulate our newly obligated brother, John Lesle Burkart for being initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason. It has been a long time since we had a degree and I really appreciate it to see our brothers showing their support to our newly obligated brother, it just
shows a good example for them to follow.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the people that help in the lodge picnic to be a successful one. This won’t be possible if it weren’t for these people, Worshipful Tom Tompkins is always willing to lend a helping hand whenever you need it, Brother Bob Jackson for doing the flyers and communications with everyone, Brother Bruce Gavin for always being there and willing to help unconditionally from open till the end of the event, Brother Tim Scott for cooking and preparing our delicious meal and Worshipful Bill Boxell and Pat Henning for helping out in the kitchen, and to all the people that came and shared their dish so everybody can try them, thank you. This event won’t be as good as it was if it
wasn’t for all of your support.
On Aug. 11 we will be having a Hiram Award ceremony for Worshipful Jeffrey Robertson after our stated meeting dinner. Please do plan to attend this honorable event to show your support for Worshipful Jeffrey
Robertson.

Brothers and Ladies,
Well! my Brothers - our lodge is playing catch up, 2 1st degree's were done last month with more coming in the near future. Our picnic Barbecue was a success with around 70 people and a lot of left overs going to our food bank. Training is going on twice a week with everyone trying to get their act together to progress forward with all that we have to do. We have had several affiliations to our lodge also in the last 2 months. Our stated meeting dinner was only 27 members this month and hopefully it will get better down the
road.
Our affiliation with American River lodge is progressing into the 2nd month and we will have to have a vote of 75% of members from both lodges in order to progress forward down the road. Several notices will be sent out in the near future. Members will have only 30 days to send back their vote and if they don't it
will be considered a NO vote, so Please send it in when you receive it.
Worshipful Thom Pryor’s reception to the Grand Lodge is August 23rd, he was appointed as Junior Grand Steward. All GLOs, Inspectors and lodges in the Sacramento area have been invited. It is a big honor and I will need All members to step up and support this function. Will need help in setting up and cleaning up the lodge. Notices will be sent out in advance with more information on this event. Please mark your
calendar.

Brothers and Ladies,
According to Harding San Juan Lodge history found on our website, Harding Lodge filed a petition for dispensation on August 13, 1923. It would seem that August is the lodge’s birthday month. One of the founding members of the lodge was Raymond S. Duffee, originally a member of Brotherhood Lodge No.
986, in Illinois.
In August, 2023, our lodge will be 100 years old. If elected and chosen by the brethren, another Duffy (me, same church, but different pew) may be the Worshipful Master. It will be a special year for the lodge and from speaking with Grand Lodge, I learned the Grand
Master will present the lodge with a certificate and plaque at an event of our choosing.
With the blessing of Worshipful Julius Cadorna, I will be forming a committee to begin the preparations for celebrating the Harding San Juan Lodge Centennial. It took a hundred years to get here, so let’s plan to celebrate for the whole of 2023. If you are interested in helping with this
committee, please contact me, Rich Duffy (with a “y”, not “ee”).
Also, we will be having another dinner before the August Stated meeting. Look for the menu and details in an upcoming email and phone blast. Remember, RSVP. Cost is $16 online or $15 at
the door.

Tom Tompkins, PM Hallboard President
Greetings from your Hallboard.
If you missed our picnic July 10th you missed a great Masonic get together. There was plenty of great food and Brother Tim Scott did an outstanding job on the 41 pounds of tri tip. Congratulations to our Worshipful Master Julius and his wife Rosmarie for a wonderful event. I counted at least 60 folks in attendance.
Brother Bob Jackson has secured a new janitorial service for our facility; they will be cleaning the
building 2 times per week. When you are visiting our lodge, please make it a point to put any items in the trash that you see lying around.
Our Worshipful Master power washed the patio before our picnic and replaced the faulty paddle fan on the patio. Thank You Worshipful Sir.
The light in the lodge room ,that worked when it wanted to, has been fixed by Brother Larry Gore. Thank You Brother Gore.
Worshipful Paul Cary is currently working to update our security system with some high-definition cameras and a state-of-the-art monitoring system. (Eat your heart out NSA) So far, we have not had a problem, but that could change very quickly with the current lawless environment that seems to be supported by some in political circles. Enough said.
Check out your lodge website: Harding San Juan Lodge 579. There is a menu tab at the top left-hand side that will take you to the lodge calendar, some interesting historical information about our lodge, lots of pictures and much more. Please check it out. It is a great website.
If you happen to see something that needs repair around our lodge, please let one of your hall board members know. Our members are our eyes and ears to maintaining a well-managed facility.
Fraternally,
Tom Tompkins
