‘Harbour View’ is a rather unique Victorian home which provides over 1,500 sq ft of living accommodation in the main house with further out-buildings and a summer house providing approximately a further 350 sq ft of useable storage / living space. What is unique about this particular property is its long feature garden which extends directly onto the waterfront and shoreline, with outstanding views across Portsmouth Harbour towards Portchester Castle and Portsdown Hill in the distance. The accommodation is arranged over three floors and comprises; sitting room, dining room, 23’ fitted kitchen, cloakroom and conservatory on the ground floor with three bedrooms and a family bathroom on the first floor and a further bedroom on the top floor. Towards the end of the garden is a raised decked area which takes advantage of the outstanding coastal view, there is storage for a dinghy and canoes, a variety of storage facilities with steps and gateways leading directly onto the watersedge, as well as a summer house / den, off-shore there is a mooring and versadock which is suitable for storing an eight meter rib. Early internal viewing is strongly recommended in order to appreciate both the accommodation and location on offer. The location is historic and also unique, approximately fifty yards from the house a green area with seating leading to the waterfront which has a slip-way and car parking.

‘Harbour View’The Hardway is an ancient village with its origins dating back to the Roman Conquest, the historic evidence points to the connection with Portchester Castle and directly between the villages and occupying Romans, the village was originally known as ‘Hardway’ grew around St Swithin’s Priory Manor Farm. In the two World Wars the waters and foreshore at Hardway were heavily utilised for refuelling and repairs to the naval ships. The White Heather Public House became Gosport’s Air Sea & Rescue base in 1942, in the autumn of 1943 work began on the beach hardening process in preparation for the D/Day embarkations. It is recorded that between 3rd June and 16th November 1944 there were at least 759 embarkations of landing craft, tanks, for both the British and Canadian armies to set sail for the D/Day landings.
