respond in new and
unexpected ways.
As family dynamics change,
grandparents are doing
more and more. Some
grandparents are even
becoming “parents” once
again. Uncover this new way
of life for people in their

Fun Facts about Summer
It is not too late to join in
our summer concert series.
We have one more concert
scheduled this year. What
could be finer than a night
with family, friends, and
summer sun at a free
concert? The concert will
be performed in the parking
lot outside the main
entrance of Cottesmore.
In case of rain, the concert
will be moved inside the
Cottesmore Café.

Many of Harbor Place’s
staff members go above
and beyond their job
description on a daily
basis, and this month’s
Employee of the Month is
no different. Susan S., in
housekeeping, is this
month’s winner. She has
been nominated a number
of times for doing little
things for residents, but
If you are interested in
nominating an employee
for this honor, please pick
up a nomination form at
the Front Desk. This is
the highest compliment
you can give one of the
employees!
The dog days of summer is a common
phrase that is used to refer to the hot
sunny days of summer. There are not
many people who may know that it re-
fers to the weeks in July and August
named after the dog star Sirius in Canis
Major.
Frisbees in the past were actually
greased pie plates, which people began
to throw to each other in parks during
summer. http://www.boldsky.com/insync/pulse/2014/interesting-facts-
about-summer-season.html

this time she saved the
day. She was just doing
her job, cleaning an
apartment, when she
overheard a phone
conversation. She
stepped in and prevented
a resident from being
taken advantage on in a
scam. Thank you, Susan,
for your dedication to
keeping Harbor Place
residents safe!
Employee of the Month
The Summer Olympics take place every
four years. They were held for the first
time in Greece more than two thousand
years ago. This year they are being held
in Rio, Brazil.
Watermelon is summer's most popular
vegetable. It is part of the cucumber,
pumpkin, and squash family. The average
American eats 15 pounds of watermelon
a year and these juicy favorites are 92
percent water.
