Having fiber and faster internet means not leaving my family to go to my mom and dad's house to work.

- Robin Mack, Kranzburg, S.D.What Having Fiber MeansWhat does having fiber mean for people? Just ask the people living in these areas. For some, it means getting more work done on their computers, laptops and other devices in a shorter amount of time. People who work remotely (from home) they will no longer have to put up with slow internet speed and other inconveniences that come with it which can contribute to loss of time, loss of money and loss of productivity.

Connect South DakotaThrough a private and public partnership, between RC Technologies and Connect South Dakota, places like Kranzburg and other areas of rural Codington County, are also getting fiber optics this year. RC Technologies was one of eight telecommunication companies who partnered with the state to assist in providing South Dakotans in rural communities adequate broadband speed needed for work and for children to be able to do homework. It's not just "keeping up", but allowing South Dakota to move forward economically.

What's the differencebetween Wi-Fi and “Whole Home" Wi-Fi?

The 2020 Directory Cover Contest Deadline is November 30, 2019

2019 Directory Winner:Tara Anderson, Wilmot

Let's start by explaining what Wi-Fi is. Wi-Fi (WiFi or wifi) stands for...Wireless Fidelity, a network that is compatible with a variety of operating systems, laptops, tablets, smart phones, game devices, smart TVs, smart speakers (like Amazon Alexa and Google Home) and other smart appliances allowing them to work together and share information.

Wi-Fi is used nearly everywhere—homes, businesses, hotels, schools, libraries, restaurants, everywhere. Some Wi-Fi networks have security restrictions with passcodes to determine which devices can connect to their Wi-Fi.

How does it work? Wi-Fi works "independent" from the internet and connects devices wirelessly to a Wi-Fi router. Together they form a wireless local area network (LAN). The Wi-Fi router is connected to the internet source (RC Internet service) via RC equipment.

"Whole Home" Wi-Fi is an upgraded Wi-Fi service elevating "the Wi-Fi experience" with access points that are placed throughout the home, boosting Wi-Fi to the hard to reach corners of your home. It also allows for the detection of Wi-Fi interference— structural, appliance and otherwise in your home— that is undetectable with the human eye, but resolved with Whole Home Wi-Fi.

Whole Home Wi-Fi is included in some packages and may be added to other packages for just $7.99/month. Call RC at 637-5211 for more details. *Whole Home Wi-Fi is not available everywhere. Some restrictions may apply.

TV TimesYour Source for All Things RCTv

Change to a New RCTv Guide makes it More User–friendly

WATCH FROM STARTEver sat down, started watching a show, and after a few minutes wished you hadn’t missed the first ten minutes? Restart Tv gives you the ability to watch most programs (not all programs) “already in-progress” from the beginning. On your RCTv remote, press the GUIDE button, then use the arrows to scroll and highlight the show you want, next press the small green button in the row of colored buttons to Watch from Start.

It’s a season of change and RCTv has a New Guide with a new look! With industry partner, Innovative Systems of Mitchell, RC was able to bring you a Guide that has fresh look with new added features! The added features and new functions make looking for channels and finding your favorite shows quick and easy!

CLOUD DVRCloud DVR is a feature which allows you to record progams and have them stored on the server with RC Technologies. One advantage is your recordings are kept safe and sound. Another advantage is you don’t have to pick and choose what recorded programs to delete if you are limited on Cloud DVR storage, simply upgrade your storage capacity by contacting us by phone or email.

ENHANCED DESIGN + NEW FEATURESAt first glance, you may have noticed the Guide’s appearance changed. Words and numbers are easier to read. Next to each channel number is the network’s logo making channels easy to locate and identify. The Guide “poster” located in top right corner of the screen is larger and fades on edges to be able to see more of the program that’s playing while you scroll through the Guide. The changes were not all visual. There is more functionality with the new features. Press the INFO button, while in the Guide, and you’ll find a program summary, air times, actors, etc. Press the yellow button to “Search” for show titles, programs with favorite actors or topics. New RCTv Guide user-friendly makes for even better viewing experience!
