MARCH RALLY TO BE ON WEST SIDE OF FORT WORTH, JUST OUTSIDE

OF WEATHERFORD, TEXAS AT THE OAK CREEK RV PARK

I hope that this first newslet-ter of 2014 finds you begin-ning to thaw out after this past winter! I think the Arizo-na HOW group found the best place to winter this year. Early arrivals to the Christmas Luncheon

take time to visit before the Noon meal.

Pictured are Mary Powell, Dee Davis,

Marvin Curtis, and LaVonna Kinnamon.

Twinkling giant ice formations

adorned the tables and sparkling

white trees set the stage for the Win-

ter Wonderland vision for our Christ-

mas Luncheon at the First Christian

Church in Stroud on December 14.

Once again the Sunday School class

there hosted us and provided a deli-

cious meal of chicken and pork loin

entrees complemented by roasted

potatoes and green beans, green

salad, heavenly Red Velvet Cake for

dessert and a table generously laden

with tasty hors d’oeuvres—all as a

treat for us and a fund raiser for them.

Julie and Steve Bivin and Ken Mush-

rush’s daughter, Marilyn, have volun-

teered for at least 12 years to bring

us this wonderful end of the year

event. We all appreciate such a gen-

erous gift of their time and talents

during a very busy season.

Fellowship was the key and it was

great to see so many members and

catch up with the details of their lives.

Marlene and Dick Pinstaff have gone

from full-timers to apartment dwellers;

JoElla Jordan is recuperating in a

care facility; Randy Plant has sched-

uled hip replacement surgery in Feb-

ruary; Carl Threlkeld announced his

engagement to Delores Tyler; Aaron

Hubl accompanied his folks; Don and

Carol Wells from Edmond were

guests of the Standridges. And a sad

news announcement of the loss of

former members Anne Thomas and

Carl Brock.

President Dave and Darlene Demuth

thanked all the rally hosts for making

it such a great year of rallies and

also expressed appreciation to all

the officers and support members

for their efforts to keep the chapter

running so smoothly. They also

thanked all the Tulsa and Oklahoma

City monthly dinner hosts for extra

efforts to keep us all in touch with a

little extra special time. Dave

Ruttman offered an opening prayer

and Julie introduced their Sunday

School class hosts to much ap-

plause and appreciation.

President Demuth thanked Past

President Chaz Allen as he present-

ed the 2014 Officers for installation.

Jim Sturdivant, 2nd Vice President

Elect, announced the opportunity for

all members to meet their obligation

to serve as a rally host once a year

and circulated a rally site list for

completion. Membership Chair Bet-

ty Shedrick announced the member-

ship total at 75 coaches.

President Elect Frank Taber encour-

aged host participation and thanked

Kent Van Fossen for serving as a co

-Chaplain with Ron Wadley as he

fulfills his National FMCA Chaplain

services.

Treasurer Elect Rita Team and

Treasurer Dave Ruttman collected

dues payments before the luncheon.

Our Christmas Luncheon once again

was a great final “rally” for the year,

and a wonderful opportunity to enjoy

our friends in the Happy (OK) Wan-

derers.

Winter Wonderland

Dewayne Davis and Chaz Allen do some

catching-up at the beginning of the Christ-

mas Luncheon. More about Chaz’s win-

ter in Arizona on the next page of the

newsletter.

Just Some Bits and Pieces

Congratulations to our own Ron Wadley who was tapped to serve as National FMCA Chaplain for 2014. This is a Volunteer position with no compensation. His first du-ties will take him to the Na-tional Rally in Perry, GA this March. Be safe in your trav-els Ron and Betty!

There have been a couple of changes in who is serving Member Support. (See Page 2 of this Newsletter) A spe-cial Thanks for those that volunteered to help perform these important jobs. Also, Thanks to those that helped in the past. We still need some volunteers!

Thought you'd like to know that Chaz

Allen won the dancing contest called

Dancing with the Valle Del Oro Stars.

Based upon the TV show, Dancing

with the Stars, the Valle Del Oro RV

Resort held a contest in which six

contestants were selected to train

and present a dance with profession-

al dance students from the Utah Ball-

room Dance Company.Chaz and his

beautiful young partner taped an in-

terview which was followed by a live

onstage East Coast Swing. Most of

the other five interviews were very

serious, telling the audience why the

dance couple thought that the audi-

ence of at least five hundred should

vote for them. Chaz opened his in-

terview with "I'm Going to Kill My

Wife for Getting Me Into This". This

set the tone for the upcoming dance

wherein Chaz came out dressed in

dress-casual attire overlaid with a

hospital gown, walking like an oldster

with a walker. His partner, dressed in

a cute little nurse's uniform, helped

him shed the walker and they set

about with a very lively East Coast

Swing dance. The audience loved

it! And the three judges loved it as

well!

When all dancers had finished

their dances, and the entire audi-

ence cast their ballots, the audi-

ence was delighted with the an-

nouncement that Chaz and his

partner had taken first place. The

mirror-ball award looked great as

Chaz accepted his well-earned

reward. Chaz says he could hear

onstage the hooting and hollering

of the contingent of Happy Wan-

derers which included Sandy

Johnson, Ron and Betty Wadley,

Bob and Donna Waller, Frank and

Sandy Taber, Tommy and Rita

Team, Paul and Barbara Isenberg,

Gary and Dorothy VanFossen, and

Kent and Lynda VanFossen.

HOW Activities in Arizona

By Kent Van Fossen

Winter Mini - HOW

Rally South of

Houston

Not all HOW members ventured out to Arizona for the winter. Some stayed a little closer to home and braved some cool weather of their own in the area between Houston

and Galveston.

Pictured above are Penny Razinck (friends of the Hinderliter’s. Her husband, Earl, is taking the picture,) Lois and Leroy Hinderliter, Norma Hamel, June Guess, Mary and Earl

Powell.

We had just finished a wonderful meal at the famous Rooster’s Din-ner. Those of you who are fans of the Duke should know who the din-ner is named after, and what movie he starred in that was made in the

area. Hint: It was not a western.

For answers you will need to attend a rally this year and ask one of the

diners.
