Cares & Concerns
We have several members and families who need
our thoughts and prayers.
Bill Mann is recuperating from pneumonia!
Cliff Chase is pending surgery. Marge Ennd’s leg
is still not healing well and she is in pain.
Dick and Dottie Weis are both suffering from
viral infections and bad colds.
Former member Tom DeFina passed away.
Carolyn is currently up north with a son, but plans
to come back to Florida and live here.
Carol Raabe, Dale Horn and Ken Culp are all
suffering with back problems.
Janet Marks is ill and was unable to attend our
meeting.
February Campout Red Oaks RV Resort
Bushnell, FL
The February campout was hosted by Roger and
Sharon Hime and Bob and Kathy Williams. They
were assisted by Phil and Louise Huntman who
recently joined our group and used this opportunity to
learn what hosting was all about.
It seems like “new-rig-fever” has hit our chapter. We
had two new rigs at this month’s campout. Steve and
Carol Griffin traded their Allegro Bus in on a new
Van Leigh fifth wheel, which was being towed by a
shiny new Ford F350 Super Crew. Steve and Tina
Hall upgraded to a new Starcraft Launch 26RLS Elite.
Following our chapter tradition, they each hosted
wine and cheese at one of our happy hours.

Everyone in attendance toured the new rigs with
lots of “ooohs and aaahs”.
On Thursday evening the group feasted on heavy
hors d’oeuvres in the clubhouse due to the chilly
weather outside. The clubhouse has been totally
remodeled since last year making it much larger
and nicer.
Eating in the renovated clubhouse was great
Friday morning we held our annual yard, bake
goods and craft sale. At this event each of us
donate yard sale items that would sell in an RV
park. The ladies also donate crafts they have
made and baked goods. Red Oaks helped us by
advertising the event and allowing us to put up
signs in the park early in the week.
We had a steady flow of customers at our sale
We had three tables of baked goods, two tables of
crafts and eight tables of yard sale items. People
were lined up an hour before our scheduled
opening and we were busy all morning.
Within about an hour, two of our three baked good tables were empty (we had super sales ladies)
It made us all feel good to see people excited with
their purchases as we watched items we brought
carried away. The sale raised $773.05, which will all
be donated to charities that our chapter supports.
Friday evening many of the group went to Beef ‘O’
Brady’s for dinner while others cooked over a nice
fire at the campground.

After dinner Friday we all enjoyed a wonderful
campfire provided by our hosts, Roger and
Sharon. Have you ever noticed how our campfire
ghost stories are replaced with tales of surviving
blown RV tires, flooded campers, and even worse,
burning RVs. There is also usually a smattering
of technical talk, which I am sure our ladies enjoy.
What would we do without Roger’s fire pit?
Saturday Morning we started out with a great
French toast breakfast provided by our hosts.
This was followed by our monthly meeting
conducted by chapter president Mickey Marks.
He had to drive in because his RV is down for
repairs from a blown tire.
At the meeting it was announced that we had
sixteen rigs at the campout with three members
driving in and one visitor. The visitor was
Marilyn Nellis, a friend of Bob and Kathy
Williams. While she was caravanning south for
the winter with Bob and Kathy, Marilyn smelled
smoke in her RV. She grabbed her purse, jumped
out, and her RV burned to the ground.
Fortunately, she was able to rent an RV for the
winter. Her story reminds us all to be vigilant
while travelling.
At our traditional Saturday afternoon beanbag
baseball game, we had a record 25 players. The
winners had a slim margin of something like 6-2.
The winning baseball team- perhaps our largest team
We also played some washer toss
Saturday evening we had a potluck dinner with ham
provided by the hosts. After dinner we brought our
nickels and dimes and played a NASCAR race game.

Three of our GTS members, Breitweisers, Horns
and Marks, worked the show this year. On
Thursday several other members met at the show
to look at the new rigs and pick up accessories.
The eye candy was everywhere. There was
everything from mini-campers to $2.5M class A
units.
Himes and Ritters, Griffins and Heises, carpooled
to the event. We all connected with the
Breitweisers upon arrival and could not pass up a
photo op. We all had different things we wanted
to see, so we just rendezvoused at set times.
Later we connected with the Marks and
Lundmarks at the Van Leigh fifth wheel display
where we looked at a model similar to the one
purchased by the Griffins.
Dinner at Dunderbak’s Biergarten and Brewery
After leaving the RV show the two carpool groups
met at Dunderbak’s Biergarten and Brewery for
dinner. It was a unique experience with great food
and drinks. All of us thanked Tim for steering us to
this one.
