Happy Birthday!

80th Birthday of Dr. Lutz Rohrschneider

Dr. Rohrschneider, associated with this journal since its first issue, celebrates his 80th birthday on 17th April. He enjoys meeting

colleagues from his former, more active days and manages to attend occasional meetings such as the ISC meeting in Leipzig in 2002.

He is still interested in the developments in chromatography and analytical techniques and follows the progress in these subjects by

surfing the internet and also through the literature at the library of the University of Muenster. He is also greatly interested in those

topics that deal with the degradation of chemicals in the environment and he is concerned about the question as to how far the changes

in climate are ‘‘human made’’. These observations, he points out, remind him of the dictum that ‘correlation of data do not prove the

causality of relationships’. This logic has been overlooked sometimes in chromatography also.

His great hobby, besides his family with three grandchildren, is digital photography. The many photographs, mostly taken from

trips around the Muenster region, have been assembled into books and slide shows so that others may also enjoy the pictures. We wish

Dr. Rohrschneider many more years of health and happiness to enjoy his hobbies.
